I figured out how to operate the small boat quite quickly. I had to since Ace hadn't recovered enough yet. Of course he refused at first, but later on knew that he didn't have enough energy to keep it up for much longer in his current state.
Once we made our way to the Red Line that separated the two halves of the Grand Line we decided to stay in Sabaody Archipelago since I told Ace that I had never been there before. When I told him that he got a little worried since the New World was supposed to be a lot more dangerous than the first half of the Grand Line especially when you're alone like me.
I didn't put much thought into it though. I wasn't afraid of ending up in dangerous situations since I have ended up in more than enough already.
Ace's point of view
When we were walking in town (y/n) turned to me. "Hey Ace!"
"Yeah?"
"I think this is where our paths part." She said with a small smile.
My heart stopped when I heard those words. "Wh... What?"
That's when a worried expression came across her face. "Are you okay? You... Look a little pale."
I quickly regained my composure because I didn't even understand why I was feeling this way and I definitely didn't want to worry her. "I... I'm fine. No need to worry about me. If anything Sabaody is definitely not the place to go our separate ways since human trafficking is a big thing here and it's too dangerous for someone like you to wander around here alone."
(y/n)'s point of view
Hearing him say that annoyed me. " I can take care of myself thank you very much."
He tried to apologize and make me understand that he didn't mean anything bad by it. Apparently he was just worried.
I sighed. " Look... I'm sorry Ace-"
He cut me off. "Don't! There's no need for it."
I looked straight at him with a serious look and took his hands in mine. "Please let me speak."
Ace nodded. "Okay..."
I sighed. "I don't want to be protected because I don't want anyone to get hurt or... Worse for my sake."
Ace then squeezed my hands and smiled. "I can't promise not to protect you when it comes down to it. After all you did save me when we met. But I can promise you this, when I do I won't die."
I could tell that he was being genuine and that warmed my heart because we've been traveling together for a while now and I've started to see this pirate as a friend. And I really didn't want to lose anymore friends.
I couldn't think straight anymore and hugged the man in front of me. "Thank you."
Ace seemed shocked for a moment, but then hugged back and chuckled. "Ah don't mention it."
After a while of walking down some street I heard a gunshot and a scream from a different street and I just started running.
Ace then started to say something. "Oh yeah I should probably mention that y-" But he stopped mid-sentence, when he turned toward me and I wasn't there anymore.
He freaked out. "Please (y/n)! Don't mess with any celestial dragons!!"
He then started running towards where the gunshot came from guessing that that was where I most probably ran off to.
Me on the other hand I had already arrived at the said scene. A man had been shot multiple times, a woman once and a little girl, who was about 8 years old, was about to get shot as well but I ran in front of her and I caught the bullet between my fingers. Something I had learned how to do thanks to a certain someone I've known for years.
