I opened my eyes to see a wooden ceiling. My body was aching all over. I started looking around, when I noticed someone familiar sitting next to me. "Ace?" He didn't respond.

I quickly sat up trying to get a look at his back since that was much easier than getting a look at his chest since he was slumped forward, and I didn't really want to wake him up because he seemed pretty tired.

As I tried looking at his back, he fell on my lap. At first I was afraid that I had woken him up, but when I hadn't I went on to get a better look at his back and when I saw that the enormous wound was gone it was like a huge weight was lifted off my chest.

I kept rubbing his back still trying to convince myself that it wasn't just my imagination. I couldn't stop smiling with tears streaming down my face. I was so relieved to see Ace alive.

After a few minutes of that the door to the room we were in opened and some guy with red hair walked in. "Hey Ace, I thought I'd at least bring y-" He stopped when he saw me. "...Or maybe you need it more miss. "He offered me a glass of water. I hesitantly took it with tears still in my eyes. My hands were shaking and I was barely holding the glass without spilling it.

The red haired man put his only hand on my shoulder. "You know... If you drink it, you might just feel a little better."

I nodded. After a few more seconds I slowly put the glass to my lips and started drinking it. Finally I managed to calm down a bit. "Th... Thanks."

"Ah no problem. You know... This is the first time in a week he has slept since he first woke up, and it's been like a week."

I gently stroked Ace's hair. "I guess I really messed things up..."

"Hmmm? What do you mean you messed up?"

I hesitated for a moment. "If I would've stopped him that day then... Then none of it would've happened. A... An... And Ace w... Wou... Wouldn't h-"

The red haired man squeezed my shoulder and stopped me from continuing what I was saying. "Look... It's not your fault." I was about to protest, but he stopped me once again and continued. "As far as I know you could either keep blaming yourself or... You could just be grateful that Ace is fine. Especially considering the fact that apparently he was wounded so badly during the war that everyone thought it was the end for him. Even Ace thought that he wouldn't make it, but somehow when me and my crew, we found the two of you, the only one who was almost dead was you and somehow... There was no trace of the fatal wound that Ace had gotten right before you got him out of Marineford."

I kept looking at the young man sleeping on my lap. "What are you trying to imply."

The red haired man tried playing innocent at first. "Oh I wasn't implying anything. It just seems like you of all people should know what happened in that small time period. Not to mention Ace himself is also quite sure that you are the reason he's alive."

I stayed silent.

The man continued. "Oh don't get me wrong. I'm not out to get you or anything. After all not only do I consider Ace a friend, but he mentioned that you saved his little brother during the war as well, isn't that right?"

I was quite cautious of this man by now. "And what of it?"

He chuckled. "Nothing much. That kid is kind of important to me, that's all."

I knew that he was telling the truth so the only thing I could think of was that they have some kind of a past together. "I see... I'm guessing you are a pirate, just like Ace?"

"That's right. The name's Shanks."

I smiled at him. "Nice to meet you Shanks. I'm (y/n)."

"I know who you are. Probably everyone does by now. After all, not only are you a Celestial Dragon, but now you've also gone against the World Government and beaten and taken the title of the world's greatest swordsman, which technically makes you the world's greatest swordswoman."
