When I woke up today, it was day 336. I've spent almost a year in skybox and today was meant be my last day alive. As of right now, I'm 17 but tomorrow is my 18th birthday. On the Ark we had rules, no matter what crime, it was punishable by death unless you were under the age of 18. If you are 17 or under you get locked up until your 18th, at that age, you get reveiwed which then lets the Chancellor decide your fate, and by what I did I don't think it would have be a good one.
I was in there for murder, but to be fair, it was the guard who floated a close friend of mine, Blaire, a couple months prior. She got floated for assaulting my father after he floated her mum. I would've gotten away with what I did if one of my best friends, Bellamy Blake -who I trusted with my secret- didn't turn me in.
I don't know what changed yet, but something had to have happened on the Ark. Something bad.

The door to her cell suddenly opened, revealing two guards. "Prisoner 83 stand facing the wall with your hands up!" One of them said and she immediately complied. What was the point of fighting anymore?"What's going on? You can't float me I haven't even had my review yet, and that's not till tomorrow," The girl basically whispered, tears starting to fill her eyes. This is it she thought, this is my end.
"Shut up!"
Before she could react, they wrapped something around her wrist and she hissed in pain. Looking down, she saw one of the wristbands she had learnt about from Abby Griffin, was placed around she wrist.
Her eyes widened at the sight. It didn't make any sense to her, they were used to track people's vital signs. One thought flashed through her mind...am I sick?
"Alright boys, I can take it from here." The girl turned around to find her father, Marcus Kane walking in and the two guards walking out. He was part of the council and he was next in line to become the Chancellor.
"Dad?" She stood still and watched as his smile disappear. She was still angry for everything he had done and he quickly realised that. "What are you doing here?" She wanted badly, so badly to run to him and cry while he hugged her but she couldn't let him think she had forgiven him.
"I came to talk." He said slowly.
The girl scoffed. "Talk?" She stepped closer. "You had seventeen years to do that and you wait until now?" He looked away and she took his silence to continue. "You locked me in here almost a year ago and this is the first time I've seen you."
"I'm sorry, I'm a busy man."
"Right, of course, my bad. This job is more important than your daughter."
He frowned. "That's not-"
"Dad, what's going on?" She cut him off. "Am I sick, why do I have this wristband on, what the hell is happening?"
"Hey, hey, hey, it's ok, you're not sick," he stepped closer to her and grabbed both her hands. "You're going to the ground."
The air in the room suddenly disappeared. "What...?" No. "What, no!" Not the ground. "I - I can't." It's not..."it's not survivable, as soon as I land I'm dead!"
The man looked at his daughter with guilt, maybe pity, and she hated it. "I know, sweetheart, I do...this is the only way. Hey, you won't be alone, okay? There will be 100 of you that are."
100 of us? That seemed almost worse. Wait...only way for what? There were so many questions she wanted to ask, but couldn't.
"I love you so much," he said.
