Venus got up to hear Bellamy yelling around the camp. She groaned and forced herself to leave her tent. "Come on! These foxholes aren't gonna build themselves!" She flinched at Bellamy's voice. He turned to Raven. "Better hope those landmines work. All the gunpowder we're wasting, we could be making more grenades."
"You want to come over here and test one?" Raven asked him and Venus smiled. God, Raven is so awesome.
"Cute. I need this entire section mined by morning. Then you finish the south field." He replied and walked off.
Raven frowned. "Hey...I told you, we're going after Finn, Clarke, and Monty in the morning." She chased after him.
"And I told you, nobody leaves this camp." Bellamy walked away.
"I'm talking to you!"
"Raven's right, Bellamy." Venus put a hand to his chest to stop him.
"We can't just abandon our people. You want to lead them, show them you give a damn." Raven said.
The tension between the three campers was broken by a gunshot and Bellamy ran over to the noise as fast as he could. "Hey...what the hell is the matter with you?!" Bellamy snapped.
"I'm sorry, man. I fell asleep. I've been on watch all day." Venus stopped to see Sterling, one of the campers and he looked terrified.
Bellamy grabbed Sterling by his jacket and threw him against the tree. "We've all been on watch all day! That bullet was one less dead grounder." His yelling was giving Vee a headache.
"Bell, you're scaring people." Octavia said.
"They should be scared! The bomb on the bridge bought us some time to prepare, but that time is up! The grounders are out there right now, waiting for us to leave and picking us off one by one when we do! Clarke, Finn, and Monty are gone, probably dead, and if you want to be next, I can't stop you, but no guns are leaving this camp! This camp is the only thing keeping us alive! Get back to work!"
Venus blocked her ears and sighed.
"Rough night?" Raven crossed her arms over her chest with a smirk.
"I couldn't sleep..." Venus looked over the camp and watched as everyone got back to work after Bellamy's outburst. She looked anywhere other than Raven's eyes.
Raven frowned. "You okay?"
Vee spotted Murphy heading into her tent and then looked back at Raven, finally meeting her eyes. She forced a smile. "Yeah."
Raven wasn't convinced. "...okay. I've got to do this or Bellamy will kill me. You...take care of yourself."
"Will do." Venus stood there for a moment before walking to her tent. "Murphy?" She pushed the flaps aside and someone grabbed her. She hit them before she realised that someone was Murphy.
"Shit, Vee..."
"I'm so sorry!"
"You're so jumpy." He rubbed his cheek. "You alright?"
"Fine." She pushed past him and sat on the edge of her cott with a loud sigh.
"That..." Murphy walked over with a smirk. "Doesn't sound alright." Vee sighed. "Is it Monty?" She looked away from him. She didn't want to admit it but she assumed he got his answer anyway when he sighed and sat beside her. "It wasn't your fault, you know?"
"He was right behind me. How could someone have taken him and I not notice?"
"...I don't know."
"And why didn't they take me?"
