The day seemed to stretch on for ever and ever and Venus hated it. All she wanted to do was sleep. There was at least one good thing that happened, though. Clarke and Finn came back. Venus had hugged Finn first and then done the unexpected, she hugged Clarke. She hugged Clarke tightly for minutes.
She wasn't sure on what the plan was. The grounders were coming and Bellamy wanted to stay and fight but Clarke wanted to leave. It might've ended in Clarke winning but Venus wasn't sure, she was way too distracted.
"That should stop the external bleeding." Clarke told Raven. A small group stood around Raven. She had been shot by Murphy, which didn't help lessen the guilt that Venus felt.
"I don't understand. How did Murphy get a gun?" Finn stood close to Raven. He still really cared about her, despite cheating on her. Vee felt kind of annoyed at him.
"Long story." Bellamy glanced at Vee who sighed. She wanted to forget everything that had happened.
"We got lucky. If Murphy hit the fuel tank instead of me, we'd all be dead." Raven said.
"Wait, there's rocket fuel down there?" Venus spoke for the first time in almost an hour.
"Enough to build a bomb?" Clarke followed on.
"Enough to build 100 bombs... if we had any gunpowder left."
"Let's get back to the Reapers. Maybe they'll help us. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, right?" Bellamy said.
"Not this enemy. We saw them. Trust me, it's not an option."
Venus looked over at Finn when he spoke. She remembered Lincoln telling her about Reapers when he saved her...the second time. "I'm with Finn on this one."
"There's no time for this." Clarke snapped.
"Can she walk or not?" Finn looked worried, and that annoynce Venus felt towards him came back.
"No. We have to carry her."
"The Hell you will. I'm good to go." Raven tried to sit up but Clarke pushed her back.
"Hey, listen to me. That bullet is still inside you. If by some miracle, there's no internal bleeding, it might hold until we get somewhere safe. But you are not walking there. Is that clear?"
"I'll get the stretcher." Finn started walking off and Bellamy glared at him.
"Can't run away fast enough, huh? Real brave." Venus could feel the tension between the two.
"Dying in a fight you can't win isn't brave, Bellamy, it's stupid."
"Spoken like every coward who's ever run from a fight."
"Guys, stop fighting." Venus sighed and walked over to them. "We have to do this together if we're going to survive."
Clarke nodded. "She's right...let's go."
Venus had ignored the rest of the conversation and stepped outside to get some air, Bellamy and Finn continued arguing while Clarke tried convincing Bellamy to help them. That's all Venus got before she walked away from the tent. She could hear someone crying and thought she knew who it was.
Behind a tree, she found Melanie sitting with her knees to her chest. Her head hung down so she hadn't noticed Venus but she was crying. Venus sat beside her quietly and Mel finally looked over at her. "Hey..." Before Venus could finish, Melanie hugged her tightly, taking her by surprise.
The little girl cried and Venus sighed. She stroked her hair gently. "shh, shh, it's okay.."
"I'm scared."
