"Out! get out now!" Jasper bellowed from below. "I'M NOT A PATIENT MAN MR. SMITH!"

"I'm sorry sir, hold it there right one minute!" Vivian called back, stumbling over her boots.

A few hours prior to this Vivian spent the whole day doing nothing while Agatha went around shouting at the maids what to do and where to put things. She watched from the grand couch in the living room the beautiful scenery sought out before her again, and appreciated the memories of the last time her and her sister Ruby went. It seemed like forever despite it only being a few months.

Vivian took one look in the mirror and picked at her coarse hair. It was growing out, and fast. She had to think of something soon before people began to notice.

She trampled down the stairs in her unfixed tie and rushed head first into Jasper's chest. He eyed her up and down with a frown. "For a short man, I'm surprised you're not that fast either."

The way his brows angrily arched in her direction made her weary. Jasper wasn't perfect by any means. In fact, some women considered him quite scary rather than attractive. It was clear as day, there was nothing boyish or innocent about this man. Just pure scrutiny.

"I tried sir, I really did."

"Don't try, do!"

"Sorry," Vivian muttered nervously. "I just... don't like it when you yell at me."

"I don't care."

"Jasper!" Agatha gasped as she popped out behind him. "Be nice, the guests will be arriving soon."

"Oh, isn't this just a lovely coincidence- There you are! and just to note, I haven't been seeing you around lately for the past month. You've been skipping out later than usual and are disappearing before breakfast. Mr. Smith hardly see's you either. Then yesterday when I caught you by the door....you decided to LIE and told me you were going with the girls for a cup of tea. Yet, you have no girls! And I had one of them check...and you were no where in sight of them!"

"How do you know I have no girls," Agatha scowled.

"Because none of them like you!" Jasper said.

Agatha crossed her arms. "That's not true, brother. You have no idea what you're talking about."

"Oh yes, I do. The men come in work and try not to talk about it in front of my ear. But those men cannot fool me. They complain about their wives and sisters all the time. And the fact of the matter is, they all think you're easy!"

"I'm not easy!" she exclaimed in broken speech.

"Then I rather have you stop acting that way and stop talking to those good for nothing friends. Always remember, you don't need friends when you have a lot of money."

"No wonder you turned out to be an ass!"

"and still better than you!"

Agatha slapped Jasper hard across the cheek.

"I hate you!"

"No more seeing that servant boy!" Jasper called back, rubbing his cheek with a groan. As Agatha stomped away Vivian stood there, stunned. Jasper narrowed his eyes, "excuse my sister- she doesn't take anything well around here. That's exactly why I never tell her a word. Agatha is too sheltered, she cannot handle reality.  As a man I'm sure you understand."

Vivian shook her head slightly. No, she couldn't understand.

"I know I'm not in the right place to tell you what to do. But, I think you should speak to your sister, she seems hurt."

"Nonsense, she's just sentimental. She'll get over it eventually, she always does."

"Come on," Jasper said, walking off. "I want you to follow me to the front door. I want to see the look on Mr. Martins face when he see's how well I'm doing."

At this point Vivian felt her whole body cave in completely. "Don't you think you've done enough damage already?"

He shrugged. "It's free booze and a good time filled with rich business men that have a lot of job opportunities available, it sounds more of a treat than damage to me....where are you going?"

Vivian stopped and whipped around. There was no way she was going to stand by the door and see everyone in. If Ruby knows where she went, Vivian was afraid of what she'd do.

"I can't do this.." she said.

"Why not?"

"I -uh. Hate people," she spluttered. What a terrible lie.

Jasper sounded insulted.

"I thought you loved my colleagues."

"I do but-"

There was a knock on the door and before she could move Jasper opened the door and a few men with suits walked into the room. "Nice to see you Mr. William...Joane!" The wife gushed awkwardly when Jasper took one look at her. Then her turned to Vivian, who stood there with her mouth gaping stupidly.

"I'd like you to meet my partner in crime, Mr. Smith."
