"I beg your pardon?" she asked with raised brows.
"I want you to write what I say," he ordered, narrowing his eyes. "You can write can't you?"
Vivian nodded hesitantly.
"Good." he said, pacing around the room once more. "Now dip that quill in the ink there and get ready for what I have to say."
He watched intently as she prepared herself at the desk before looking up in acknowledgement. The truth was that Vivian was nervous, so nervous in fact- she could barely concentrate on anything.
"It is with upmost gratitude that I am please to assume this new position, as co-partner to my brilliant, amazing, extravagant fellow, Mr. Wright.-"
"That's a whole lot of syllables you used to describe yourself there," she interrupted his thoughts.
Jasper craned his neck, staring at her dangerously. "Did I ask for your opinion Mr. Smith?" he snapped at her in a harsh tone. Vivian gulped and shook her head. "Then write it down!" Jasper continued to bark at her until she write in word for word what he'd said with a shaky hand.
When all was said and done he waited impatiently until Vivian was done and snatched the piece of paper out of her hand. Jasper eyed it intently, his face distorting as he read each and every word. He scrunched his eyebrows in confusion and neared closer to the ink, making her stomach churn with anticipation. "Is there something wrong with what I did sir?" she asked hesitantly.
"I can read half of these words!" he exclaimed.
"I'm unfamiliar with the lot you put on there," she admitted with eyes that twinkled in excitement. "By the way, what's a fixed asset. Also what's the purpose of a balance sheet?"
"Dear god, get your fondling daddles together Will. You've been scheduled your whole life, your hands can't even spell the word 'martinet'."
"I've never herd of that word before sir!"
"WELL YOU SHOULD," he snapped once more, tearing the paper into shreds. "This is useless, you're useless. There's no hope with you. This was a mistake. I can't believe for one second I'd even trust Agatha- she damn right lied to me."
As Jasper was mumbling to himself he herd faint cries from the corner, almost sounding like a woman's cry. He whipped around in shock to see Vivian with tears streaming down her face. Her breath hitched when they made eye contact and she walked away, her back facing him from the other side of the room. "Don't look at me," she sobbed. "You hate me."
"Oh get a grip on yourself lad," he muttered quietly, "you're beginning to sound like a women."
There was a pause, and all of a sudden Vivian broke out into sobs again. She just couldn't stop it. She felt so used. So pointless, had nowhere to go but with the man who ruined her life.
Jasper watched the young man crying in the corner like a little girl. His eyes softened for a moment, as it reminded him of something, someone.
"My apologies," he said as the sobbing died down. "I may have been a little harsh."
"A little," she mocked, her voice worn out. Vivian dried her eyes and eyed him down with a vengeance. "You've demeaned my entire existence."
"I didn't mean too-"
"Oh just leave me alone!" she grumbled, taking Jasper off guard.
"You're in my office."
"Then I'll leave," she shot back.
"Remember we made that contract?" he sneered. "I own you now."
Vivian sat back in shock, boiling with fury. She felt like she was going to explode. For the first time in her life, Vivian wanted to lunge and him with a powerful smack twice across the face.
"You have to get yourself under control, now." Jasper's voice broke into her thoughts. "Before you try and kill me, and nothing good comes from that."
"Who said I was? this is my way of getting things under control," she defended. "It's a mixture of highs and lows, the life balance if you will. I have a breakdown then get through my tragedy, and it repeats and repeats and repeats."
"Have a mentality of a man for once will ya," he scoffed. "Push it all down and gear it towards your work and benefiting yourself, alright? that's what I do anyway."
Vivian sniffled. "And it works?"
"I mean," he shrugged. "I turned out just fine."
Her lips dropped to a frown. She sat down in silence as Jasper wrote the introduction down in silence made her sign it all over again. "Perfect," he muttered. "We're ready now."
"JASPER!" an angry voice bellowed down the hall.
Before Vivian could ask who it was the door busted open, revealing an irate looking Reuben with grey eyes in slits.
