"Yes! It should be just a bit less than a month away now and you will see the autumn tree," (Y/N) replied, a smile spreading across her face.
"I see~! I'd really love to see that! Maybe we can experience it together♡ Right? It would mean so much if we could share that day!" Tsukasa's excitement was palpable as he leaned back, a dreamy look spreading across his face.
He sighed contentedly, tilting his head toward the sky, where the sun cast a golden hue over everything. (Y/N) followed suit, gazing up at the vibrant greens of the midsummer leaves, whispering secrets about the changing seasons.
A comfortable silence settled between them, but (Y/N) couldn't help stealing glances at Lord Tsukasa's profile. 'When the leaves turn red...' she thought sadly. 'Lord Tsukasa will be gone.'
Understanding him little by little had made her feel a responsibility to share the truth.
"Lord Tsukasa..." she began, hesitating as she caught his attention.
"Hm?" he turned to her, his expression curious.
"There's something I've been meaning to tell you for a while now..." (Y/N) paused, summoning the courage to meet his gaze with sincerity. "The truth is, I'm not the prospective bride you and your brother came here to meet."
Tsukasa's brow furrowed slightly. "You've said that countless times, but..."
"That day, I was at another restaurant to deliver some premade food, not for any sort of matchmaking," she explained slowly, carefully laying out the details.
"Premade food... ? Oh..." A flicker of surprise crossed his face, only to be replaced by a frown of disappointment.
Guilt blossomed in (Y/N)'s heart as she witnessed the shift in his expression. 'He was just smiling so brightly a moment ago. Did I ruin that?'
Logically, she should feel relieved that the misunderstanding had been cleared up, but instead, a wave of unhappiness washed over her at the thought of never seeing Tsukasa again.
'I almost wish I were the one he came here to marry...'
For the first time, the thought of being separated from Lord Tsukasa sent a pang of sadness through her heart, and it startled her.
