"How are they?" (Y/N) asked, her face bright with anticipation.
"Mmmm! Such a gentle flavor..." he said, before suddenly adding, "I wonder if the flavor's gentle because you're a gentle person."
Her cheeks flushed at his unexpected compliment, and she watched as Lord Tsukasa continued to eat with a look of pure contentment. 'Wow...'
Seeing him this happy made her heart leap. It felt like she hadn't seen that genuine smile from him since she revealed the truth about her identity. She had feared that maybe she'd stolen that beautiful smile away forever.
'I'm lucky to see it again...'
Lord Tsukasa's joy was contagious, and (Y/N) couldn't help but feel her own heart swell with happiness. He finished the donuts with impressive speed, seemingly unaware of her quiet, affectionate gaze.
"Ahhhh~ Thank you! They were truly delicious~ I'll be sure to tell Amane all about this, hahahaha!" He laughed with a mischievous glint in his eye, clearly pleased with himself.
"...Okay then, I'd better be off." He stood up, giving her a grin that looked a touch awkward.
(Y/N) felt her heart clench as she watched him prepare to leave.
'He's going already? No, please—'
"Wait..." she blurted out, clapping a hand over her mouth in surprise at her own boldness.
Lord Tsukasa's face brightened instantly, his eyes gleaming with delight.
"I'll be back again," he promised, his tone soft but sincere.
"Really?!" she asked, her heart soaring, and she flashed him an excited grin.
Lord Tsukasa's eyes widened as he looked at her. "...! That smile!" he said aloud, as if the words slipped out on their own.
(Y/N) blinked, taken aback. "Wha?"
"U-um, er... I just... your smile... I got to see..." He struggled to finish his sentence, his cheeks turning crimson, and (Y/N) felt her own face growing warmer.
'In other words... Lord Tsukasa was thinking the exact same thing I was?! ' she thought, her heart racing.
"Oh, well, um..." she stammered, glancing around the room to avoid his gaze as her face grew redder by the second.
"Right, yeah... It is really hot in here!" he said suddenly, ducking his head to hide his own embarrassment.
For the first time, (Y/N) saw Lord Tsukasa looking genuinely flustered, and the sight left her both happy and hopeful.
