Chapter 13

Zelk's POV

Darkness

-All I could see was Darkness.

I didn't know how long I was out for...
Next thing I knew, I woke up in a fit of coughing. I was laying down on my bed, staring at a familiar ceiling. Everything was blurry-and bright. My eyes slowly adjusted to the light as I rouse. The first thing I heard was;

"Zelk!" A familliar voice said, "You're okay!"

Then a short figure slowly rushed over towards me.
"Zak?"  I asked aloud, before I tasted blood. I spat out a blood-covered petal.
"Yea it's me-What about you? You okay?" He asked. He looked really worried and panicked.
"Uhrm I'm f-fine!" I stuttered.

I didn't know why I said that when it wasn't true. I was feeling washed out, my legs had gone heavy on me all of a sudden. That's when I felt a sting of pain slowly climbing up my throat. I knew what it was-thorns. The thorns would scratched my throat every time I coughed. But, I didn't want Zak to be more worried than he was before. So, I forced myself to swallow down the thorns-which was a big mistake. The thorns scraped and clawed my throat as it went down my throat slowly. My eyes teared up slightly from the unbearable pain.

"Zelk? I know you're not fine- look at yourself!"
"I-I'm F-Fine" I said in a rasped voice.
"No you're not!" Zak yelled, "Zelk. You need to tell him about this"
"But-" I said before getting interrupted by my coughs. I looked at what I had just coughed out- a rose that's almost fully grown.

My eyes widened in shock and fear. As my heart starts pounding faster and faster. My head throbbed. The pain felt like someone had taken a knife into my skull. I leaned my head against my hands-Squeezing my eyes shut and hoping for the pain to go away.

"No Zelk! it's getting worst and soon you'll eventually die! And I don't want to lose you-" Zak yelled out loud, "neither of us do"
"But-"
"It doesn't matter if he rejects you- just please promise to tell him about your feelings."

"Zak's got a point" I said in my head as the headache slowly disappeared, "this disease is just going to get even worst if he rejects me, but if I don't even confessed, I'll never get the chance" I coughed.

"You're right." I said before sighing, "but I don't feel ready yet-"
"What?" Zak asked.

I would have argued with him but I was just too tired. "Fine. I'll just confess when he comes to my house tomorrow then" I mumbled sadly after giving up.
"Glad to hear that" Zak said.

He paused for a moment before he spoke again;

"But there is two things you should know"
"What is it?"
"Firstly, Darry's coming earlier! He's reaching in 10 minutes!" He said excitedly.
"That is-A interesting nickname for your boyfriend...?-but I'm fine with that." I said, "What's the second thing you wanted to tell me?"
"Oh.." he said before pausing, "well.."

It was silent for a moment-well I wished. I was still coughing throughout the whole silence.
"How nice-" I said in my head, annoyed like fuck. Until he eventually said;

"Mega's gonna come earlier as well..." He blurted out loud.
"Wait what?!" I said-not expecting that at all, "When?!"
"Uhrm-I- Well you see...er...."
"He's gonna arrive at 12am today..."

I was speechless. And panicking at the same time too.

"What. time. is. it." I asked in a rushed, angry way.

"10pm..."

"DUDE WHAT?!-"

And that's when I felt like I couldn't breathe again.

-another short chapter that may be a little bit rushed because I wrote this late (lol)
-it's kinda late (for me anyways) so I didn't check the grammar (again) lol
