Bettys pov

Emily is now three months old and It is my first day back at work. It is also the first day that Jughead is letting Emily go to the bar. We arrive out the front and it honestly feels weird being back here. I'm wearing a mini skirt and a tank top, which Jughead was scowling at all morning. I had finally gotten my pre-pregnancy body back and I am thrilled. We walk through the door and Jughead yells to kill the music. I walk in holding Emily, none of the serpents have met her and all come a little closer. "This is our child, Emily," Jughead says. "Nice body Betts," once of the serpents whistle and I laugh but Jughead gives them an intense glare. He turns back to me and gives me a peck on the lips and takes Emily upstairs with him. Once Jug has completely gone, the music starts back up and walk behind the bar and give Tony a hug, "I missed you girl," she says to me. "I missed you too," I tell her.

Sweet pea and Fangs come over as well and sweet pea says, "So, I heard that once you give birth you can't have sex for like two months or something, no wonder the Kings always a bit bitchy. Have you two 'gone at it' since the kid." "You have no boundaries," I say through a laugh. He points at me and says, "You need to get laid." I grab his finger and bend it back to the point of hyperextension. "Careful there sweet pea. I don't what to have to break your hand to send a message," I tell him. "Yes queen." We all laugh at his response and get back to work. At 12 noon I tell them I'm going to take my lunch break. Sweet pea says, "Why? Our earlier conversation got you horny. Remember the walls are thin." "No actually, I'm going to go breastfeed. Want to come." "Eww," he says, "no way." "You are so immature," I bite back.

I open the door to Jugheads office. I am shocked to see Missy bouncing my daughter on her knee. "Oh hey there Blondy. Congratulations on the kid." I take a step towards her to save my baby, but she pulls out a knife. In a tone so chilling Missy says, "Take another step and she bleeds out on the floor." "Where is Jughead," I ask. "I don't know. I came in through the back and waited for him to leave his office. I was hoping to steal some documents for Penny, but the serpent kings daughter will do just fine." "Jughead!" I yell. Fangs and Sweet pea start walking up the stair and sweet pea says, "Betty, I told you, the walls are thin." "Stop," I tell them. They look at me confused, "Missy is holding my daughter at knifepoint. I need you to go downstairs and find Jughead," I say calmly. "Okay," they say. "What do you want Missy?" "Shut up," she says. Jughead walks up behind me and says, "Betty what's..." he trails off as he sees Missy holding our child with a knife. He goes to take a step forward, but Missy raises the knife even higher to Emily's throat. He stops and I squeeze my hand on the bottom his serpent jacket. He puts his hand on the small of my back and he says to Missy, "Can I help you with something?" "Don't you see Jug, we were meant to be together. The only thing stopping us is this baby that you share with this whore. We are soulmates, I love you and I know that you love me too. You don't love her, you feel obligated to her, because of this," she points at the baby with the knife. "Ok Missy," Jug says, "we can try and be together, but I need you to put the baby down. Because if you harm a hair on her head, I will hate you forever." "Promise that you love me," she begs. "I promise that I love you. Can Betty come and get the baby now, so that we can go far away and be together?" She nods and I take a few steps forward.

She holds back the baby at first, however, after a few moments, she reluctantly gives her to me. But the second my baby is in my hands, Missy plunges the knife into my stomach. I scream out in pain and Jughead immediately comes to my side and takes the baby. Missy tries to run but Mustang and tallboy grab her and drag her away. Toni comes in and Jughead yells, "take the baby!" She stands frozen at the sight of all the blood coming from my body. So Jughead yells again, "Take the goddam baby!" This time she does it and he picks me up and runs downstairs. He lies me down in the back of the car and speeds off to the hospital. And then I pass out.

Jughead pov

I run into the hospital yelling for help, "Please help her, she's been stabbed." Two nurses and a doctor lay her down on a bed and wheel her down the corridor. They tell me that I have to stay in the waiting room and wait until she's out of surgery. I wait 6 hours until I can see her again. The doctor comes up to me and says, "are you here for Elizabeth Cooper." "Yes." "The blade missed all internal organs but did cause some internal bleeding. She's responding well to treatment and is expected to make a full recovery with minimal scarring on her abdomen. But I do have to advise you that she was very lucky. Half a centimetre in any direction and she would have died. She is still sleeping, but you can go in and see her." I walk into Betty's room. They have her hooked up onto some kind of machine and have an IV attached to her arm. I sit by the bed and hold her hand. She wakes up a little over 2 hours after the surgery. I tell her that it was successful and the doctors expect a full recovery. She smiles at me and I give her a kiss and say, "I thought I lost you." She catches a tear that I didn't even know I had shed, "but you didn't," she whispers.

The next day Betty gets discharged and I support her by the waist and we walk back to the car that has blood on the leather seat. "I'm sorry," she says. "Never, apologise. It wasn't your fault. Do you want to drive back to the bar and go get Emily?" "No. I need you to take me home first." "Ok," I'm curious to why she would want to go home instead of seeing her daughter, but I don't question it. When we arrive she tells me to stay the car and she'll be about 2o minutes. "Betty, you're being really weird." "Just for once Jug, please do as I ask and stay in the car," she starts to tear up and I say, "baby, just tell me what wrong." She shakes her head and gets out of the car, while I stay and try to think about why she is acting this way. I have come to about 4 reasonable conclusions to explain Betty's actions, but when she walks back down wheeling two suitcases, I get out and ask her, "Are we going on a trip?" She shakes her head and places the suitcases in the back seat. "To the bar," she said as an instruction rather than a question. She gets in her separate car that she hadn't driven yet and we both head to the bar.

When we pull up, I go over to her and reach for her hand, but she withdraws it and acts as if she wasn't trying to avoid my touch. When we get into the bar everyone looks at us, but Betty completely ignores them and goes up to Tony smiles and grabs Emily. Before she exits the bar I grab her wrist and ask, "Where the hell are you going, and what's up." She looks around at all the serpents who are now listening in on our conversation, "Jug. We have to go." "What do you mean. Where are we going?" She shakes her head and takes a deep breath, "No you don't understand... Emily and I have to go." "No, you don't," I say through a lump in my throat. She nods her head and says through tears, "Yes we do. I love you... so much, and, it breaks my heart to leave. But we have to protect our daughter from Penny. She almost died today." "I know it was stupid, I shouldn't have left her in my office alone, and it will never happen again." "Don't blame yourself Jug. The same thing could have happened with either of us anywhere." "I'll protect you, and Emily," I tell her. "And the serpents would risk their lives for you," sweet pea chimes in. She gives him a sweet smile. "Jug... please don't make this harder. Bear and I will come back when it's safer for her. But right now, it's not." "I can make it safe," I tell her, "just, please don't leave." "Jug. You don't understand. You are the LEADER of the biggest gang in the country and our daughter has a target on her back because of that. So... Emily and I have to leave for a little while. I promise you we will be back when she is a bit older. But we have to fake mine and her death. If you come it will look conspicuous and we'll only be endangering Emily." I start to cry and she pulls her hand from my grasp. "Please don't go, Betty, I can't live without you or Emily." She takes out the baby's seat from my car, puts it in her's and places Emily inside it. She is crying full tears now and all the serpents have come outside to watch. "Jughead," she walks over to me and cups my face, she smashed her lips onto mine and wraps her arms around my neck. "I'll be back. I love you so much," she whispers, "close your eyes. Baby, I need you to close your eyes." I do as she says and hear her get into the car and drive off.

I open my eyes and she's gone. I turn around, all the serpents are looking at me, I walk past them and down to the basement. Sweet pea and Fangs walk directly behind me and I come face to face with Missy. She is tied to a chair and has a sick smile on her face. Sweet pea says, "You made the Queen and Princess leave, I would stop smiling if I was you." Legitimate terror comes across her face, I walk up to her and she asks me, "Are you going to kill me?" "No... I'm just going to hurt you, and punish you until you would rather be dead than to ever have known me."
