Bettys pov

The bed feels cold and uncomfortable. My chest feels heavy and broken. My legs are dead. My mind is escaping. And my heart is breaking. Jughead and I have never reached a greater distance than what we are at now. We have never felt a stronger disconnect, that the feeling of strangers becomes more and more of a reality. It as if I am utterly disposable and will cease to ever find love in someone, aside from my children again. However, Emily and I have never been closer. She makes me feel warm inside and dulls the pain which Jughead ignites. She is my light, she is my joy, and she is my life-force.

I stare blankly at the ultrasound machine on the doctor's monitor. I am now officially 16 weeks pregnant and about to find out the sex of my baby. When I walked into the room alone, Dr Ghil, who delivered Emily looked at me with a confused smile. I just told her, "Jughead's at work." While she gave me a smile and a nod, something about her shifted composure and demeanour has sparked my suspicion. I had now come to a point in life where I am pregnant, unmarried, and unwilling to even speak the name of the father of my children.

"And will you be finding out the gender today Miss Cooper?" Dr Ghil asks me with a smile. "Yes please," I reply, matching her expression. "Alright, it appears that you are having... a girl." My smile grows even larger as I find out that soon I would have another bundle of joy in my life. Whether it were a boy or girl, as long as it is healthy, and I will make them happy to the best of my ability. I look back to the doctor, who's smile has now been replaced with an amusing smirk. "Well Betty, I'll be damned," she says coyly, "there's not one, but two babies cooking in your stomach. The second one is a boy! Congratulations." Despite my plastered smile, I now had a wave of panic completely wash over me. Mixed with nausea, thrill, confusion, worry and a large amount of undesirable emotions. "Twins," I say with a dry throat. "Mhmmhm," the Dr reiterates.

Back at the Wyrm, I walk in and head over to the bar. I just hope that nobody notices any similarities to the way I dressed from when I was pregnant with Emily. "Hey Betty," Toni says as I walk in. "Hi Tony." Her gaze lingers on me a second to long and then she opens her mouth as if to say something then decides against it. "What?" I ask her. "It's nothing, and I know you have a lot off stuff going on right now, but I covered your shift this morning, and not that I mind or anything, but like, where were you." I couldn't tell her that I was at a doctors appointment, because then she would ask why and the that would only lead to a conversation I was not yet ready for. "I'm really sorry Tony, I just slept in." She seemed unfazed by my terrible response, which only alluded to how lucky I am to have her as a friend. The mood of the bar undergoes a quick change, one that I can't describe, and Tony grabs my arm and pulls me into the small liquor supply closet, "What the hell?" I ask. "I need to show you this new liquor we got," she tells me reaching for a 2006 bottle of bourbon. "Tony, we've had that in stock for years," I tell her and try to leave the small claustrophobic space. She tries to pull me back by my arm, but I shrug out of her hold and my eyes catch the back of Jughead. I start to walk over to him and say, "Hey Jugg-" but am quickly interrupted by Missy's coy tone as she says, "Oh hey." I stand stunned by her appearance in the bar. She turns to Jughead and says, "Juggie Wuggie, this girl is making me really uncomfortable... Fire her please." Jughead turns to me, and he looks at me with a facial expression I had never witnessed first hand, genuine frustration, annoyance and overall hate. I falter slightly by his intense glare and take a few steps back, and as if to make matters worse, Emily walks in. I forgot she had an early day today, damn it. Jughead looks over at her then at Fangs and says, "Get the kid of of my bar." All the serpent look to Emily with extreme hurt on their face and then at Jughead with boiling anger. However, I can't even focus on what the other serpents look like. Emily stands still, an unreadable expression masks her face. She walks a few steps towards Jug and he crosses his arms annoyed. She walks up to him and whispers, "Dad. Please stop. Please Remember me," before I can intervene, her voice raises exponentially and she says, "Dad! I can't take it anymore! I love you, and I'm sorry! If you can hear me please come back! I will do anything to have my dad back!" Before I can comfort her, she turns away and burry's her face into Jamie's shoulder and exits the bar. Nearly every serpent has tears visibly forming in the corners of their eyes, and the others just hang their heads low.
