5- The Calendar

Today was March 20th, my birthday, the day I will learn my true 'fate'. It is safe to say I am not prepared for this. To find out one ring can decide what I'm really like, who I am going to be. It's a scary thought that I will either be pure evil or possess great power, its two extremes. Good and Evil. If I am evil I will be killed. If not I will expected to help a whole civilisation against a greater evil and a stupid ring decides that. I held it in my hand too scared to put it on because I don't want to know, I would be happy living in ignorance of not knowing the truth at all. There must be a way to slow down the process. I wonder what it would feel like the changing would I feel any pain or would be no different than an ordinary ring. To be perfectly honest I have never been too fond of wearing rings, I was more of a bracelet kind of girl.

I got changed into a purple silk dress which had flowers embroidered in gold thread on the chest, to go with it there was an ice blue jacket also made of silk. The dress was beautiful. It's probably the most girlish clothing item I have ever worn.

A note was left with dress. It read "To Andromeda a birthday gift, one of your mothers dresses, I think she wore it one her sixteenth birthday or her wedding day I can't quite remember" signed Alexei.

I have always wondered what my mother would look like. I mean I have seen a few photographs of her when she was in her teens and one from when I was born but I felt like I was looking at a mirror. We looked just a like same bone structure, same porcelain skin and the same burgundy coloured hair except mine is curly. Our eyes are also different, hers were chocolate brown and mine are sea green just like Theron, judging by the pictures I've seen. Except his had a certain coldness to them which frightened me. He surely looked like someone who you didn't want to get on their bad side or any side.

"Hey there birthday girl, I heard about how your first si̱mánei lesson went. I have to say I'm impressed I didn't think you had it in you."  Vincent chuckled.

"You don't know what I got in me." Okay so that did sound a little sassy.

"You are a funny one, I feel truly sorry for your situation it's either you're the hero or the villain and your brother is the other. It's a sticky mess, I don't know what I would do if that was me and Tina."

"So I wasn't hearing things."

"Nope, I think Adonis is back from wherever he went. He has a tendency to run off but he always comes back, this is his home."

Adonis, hm.

"What's he like? What does he look like?" These questions poured out of my mouth like water from a tap.

"You can meet him, you're twins you know like me and Tina but we look exactly like. You look like your mom and he your father, I guess Tina told you."

I nodded.

"I knew she couldn't keep her mouth shut, but I guess someone had to tell you. Most people are hoping that it's you that turns out evil because you don't really know anything about us and our people and that you're not trained, so you would be less of a threat."

"That's comforting to know."

"I mean it isn't exactly the easiest thing to be a part of, I've grown up with Adonis so seeing him turn would break all of us. It would have been different not meeting you, probably easier I guess for everyone, even you."

"To be honest it would have been a whole lot easier if we hadn't have been born."

"God, it's nearly time the moon is appearing soon we should head outside."

"Let's get this over with."

We walked outside there was a cool breeze blowing as the clouds opened up to reveal a crescent moon with the stars scattered around in a deep purple sea. It was beautiful, the oak tree looked black as night. The moonlight danced off the reddish leaves and there stood Joseph leaning against the tree. Tina sat cross legged in the grass playing with the fallen leaves; her long blonde locks glistened in the moonlight. Alexei was pacing back and forth pocket watch in hand. It must be near midnight by now, surely.

"Glad that you could make an appearance Andromeda, you just made it on time." Alexei said drily.

"Please call me Andie, I prefer it to Andromeda."

"When in my presence I will always address you by your proper name not nickname."

"Fine, where is Adonis? The supposed brother I have."

"Right here, dear sister." I swished round to be met with a boy no younger nor older than me, a bit taller and a whole lot like Theron. The same ebony coloured hair, the same sort of build except he had my mother's eyes, a chocolate brown. There was something not quite right about him; he gave off a strange vibe.

"You catch up some other time, now as the changing process sinks in you will feel it and it isn't nice but it only lasts about a minute." Alexei explained.

"Why now?" I ask.

"It of course happens from the time you were born, eleven thirty pm."

He was right.

I felt a surge of energy hit my body making its way to my head. My legs fell numb dropping me straight to the ground. I writhed around in the grassland, my back arched up I could feel masses of tiny electrical impulses shocking my body until one final blow ended the pain. I let out a deep breath, my vision was blurred. I must have lost my glass when I fell. My hands shaking reached out searching in the field for my glasses. I gripped them tightly then place them onto my face my hands still shaking.

My hand. The ring. I couldn't bear to look at it.

I heard raised voices, all yelling out to one person.

To Adonis.
