8- Careful

The worst is yet to come? What is this supposed to mean and when is the yet? How does he keep getting into my head?! It is going to drive me insane and the worst thing is I don't even know how to go about telling anyone without them all worrying and losing it. Alexei isn't exactly in the best of shape lately trying to prepare for the meeting with Nova, from what I know they don't seem too pleasant and all of these lessons coming now seem a bit overwhelming. How am I supposed to take a crash course in the entire history of the Hecates and live up to the Nova's expectations? I don't even know when I am supposed to be learning all of this stuff and that whole fire fiasco is still unbeknown to me how that could even happen. I took a deep breath and lay my head back on to the sofa, to be met with a pair of glistening blue orbs.

"Are you ready?" Vincent said all peppy.

"Ready for what?"

"Your lesson with the one and only Vincent Torrade. A crash course in the history and customs of our kind."

"Oh yeah Alexei may have mentioned it."

"Well off to the library we go, all the books we need are there."

"Let's go then. Actually Vincent can I ask you something?"

"Shoot."

"Let's just say hypothetically, is it possible for people like us to draw a picture and it to, well come alive in front of them."

"What have you done?"

"Is it that obvious?"

"Just a bit Andie, just a bit."

"Praise the Lord! Someone has actually called me Andie and I didn't necessarily do something troublesome."

"So you drew a picture of something and it appeared in front of you?"

"Yeah that is pretty much it."

"Oh god, you didn't draw a person did you?"

"Oh no! How do I explain this? I picked up a pencil crayon and my hand seemed to have a mind of its own and I ended up drawing a picture of a fire. The next thing I know the ground in front of me is up in flames. So, I rip up the picture and it disappears. I'm not going crazy, am I?"

"You are way past crazy, honey by accepting that all of this is real. I would say you're on borderline lunacy. But it's okay because nobody is sane in this world."

"So the drawing thing, is it common?"

"I don't think so but there is someone we can go and speak to who might shed some light on this."

"I'm guessing the library trip is cancelled."

"Oh this is going to be much better than the library. We are going to meet Madame Calista."

"And who is this Madame Calista?"

"You'll see, but first of all we will need to get ourselves some weapons." Weapons?! What no I am not, no I cannot use a weapon. I will end up losing it or worse end up maiming myself or Vincent.

"No, no, no and no!"

"Do you want to end up dead? Because you will without any."

"But I don't know how to use one, Vincent. I will end up maiming myself!" He clearly did not look amused.

He sighed. "Look Andie you probably won't even have to use it, but if we're going we need to take it just in case okay. I'll promise you that you won't have to use."

"You best not be a promise breaker then."

"Trust me."

We walked along the extensive corridors of the house we passed the intricate portraits of battles scenes from throughout Greek History. One of them that stood out to me the most was the one of the battle of Marathon. I remember Andrew teaching me about it. The painting was of warships with their mighty red flags attached to mast and held up by the halyard. The sky was painted a light blue with the clouds dominating most of the sky space. Oars hung off the edge of the boat being rowed by the masses of men.
