Elizabeth
Despite the fog in my head and the fear that lay thick on us like a blanket, I couldn't stop smiling. In all of that confusion, one thing stayed clear: Kurt said he loved me. He kissed me, so despite being afraid, I was also sure that I was the happiest I'd ever been.I had some trouble walking, so Kurt just carried me. He muttered something about the long term effects of mind control, but I still wasn't quite processing what had happened. Instead, I clutched him, concentrating on his rhythmic heartbeat and his arms around me.
As we rounded a corner, we met a woman with white hair, despite her obvious young age. When she saw Kurt, she smiled, relieved. "Kurt! You're ok!" Then, she noticed me. A moment of surprise flitted across her features, but she smiled just as gently. "I'm glad to see that she's alright," she murmured. Kurt beamed. "Storm, zis is Elizabeth. Lizzie, zis is Storm." I grinned shyly at the woman, and she smiled gently back.
Quickly, the mood became somber again. "We need to get the children to Cerebro to meet Jean," said Storm urgently. "And we need to hurry."
We moved through the hallways as quickly as we could with our large group. Each corner turned was a relief. I did my best to keep my wings off the ground, making Kurt's self-given job of carrying me a tiny bit easier. Most of the children were quite young, but they were all able to walk decently well. Still, all of us seemed to silently agree that we weren't moving fast enough.
Rounding a corner, we all halted. Kurt gaped. "Vhat is zis?" he whispered. Storm looked just as horrified as we all stared at the ominous doorway. "Cerebro." A man with strange glasses and a limping woman with red hair shambled slowly towards us. Storm examined the woman, concerned. "Jean, are you ok?" she asked. Jean winced, but answered, "I'm fine. What's happening?" She paused. "Professor's still in there, with another mutant. He's trapped in some kind of illusion....." She froze. "Oh my God. Magneto's reversed Cerebro. It's not targeting mutants anymore." Storm looked alarmed. "Who is it targeting?" she asked cautiously. Jean stared straight ahead, horrified. "Everyone else," she whispered.
