Chapter 3: the shrine, the spirits, and the obnoxious fox

Your P.O.V
"How do you know my name?" Nanami asks.

"Shoot, I said that out loud didn't I?" I mentally facepalm.

"Yes, yes you did."

"Um, well you see.. I.. I... I heard about you at school! There were a group of people out front and I overheard the name Nanami Momozono." It wasn't the most accurate answer, but she bought it.

"Hey do you have any place to stay?" Nanami asks.

I suddenly realize that I have nowhere to go, my home defiantly isn't in an anime, and I have no idea how to get back... Aw man!!
"Actually no, I don't have a place to stay. I'm homeless."

"Well you're not alone. This man, his names Mikage I think, he just gave me a place to stay. Would you like to come with me?"

Wow, Nanami is so nice!
"Really? I'd love to! Thank you so much! My name is (Y/n) by the way."

~Timeskip~

We walked along the path to the shrine, following the poorly drawn map of Mikage's. Soon enough we were at the shrine, it looked a lot more run down than it did on TV..

"I got played. I swear I'm not trusting another adult ever again!!" Nanami then turns around and begins to storm off.

"Just wait Nanami! You never know there might be something interesting! And we don't have anywhere else to go so we're going to have to make due!" I quickly say stopping her and turning her back to the shrine.

"Lord Mikage?" a high pitched voice speaks.

"Welcome back Lord Mikage!" a lower pitched voice says.

"Lord Mikage!" the voices chorus.

Considering I've only watched the season once, I can't remember everything that's gonna happen.... So naturally I freak out with Nanami when fire appears, blocking our exit.

"GHOST!!" me and Nanami yell.

We both immediately start walking backwards, me using Nanami as a human shield, but I didn't see the step behind me. So incidentally, I trip and fall backwards, causing Nanami to fall backwards on top of me.

"Uh, Nanami?"

"Yes (y/n)?"

"Not to be rude or anything. But can you please get off of me?"

"Sorry about that."

"No problem."

Nanami rolls off of me and sits up, that's when I realized what happens next.

"Indeed it is you."

Yep.. Oh glob... Tomoe?! The same Tomoe who has been stalking me in my nightmares?! Please let this all be a dream!!!

"Where have you been? I've waited quite sometime for your return. 20 years feels like an eternity to me how about you?" Tomoe turns to look at us, I can tell that Nanami is scared out of her wits because I am to.

"NOW DIE YOU FIEND!!" Tomoe yells, clearly angry.

He looked like he was going to claw Nanami to death, so without thinking I jumped in front of her, "Wait! We're not Mikage!" I say.

Tomoe, still filled with rage and not seeing clearly in the dark, grabbed my shirt and pulled me up a few inches before he stopped. I open my eyes, realizing the they were closed, Tomoe had his right hand above his head ready to strike, his left hand held my shirt so my knees couldn't touch the ground, and his face had a sort of realization look on it.
