Virgil: don't tell anyone except maybe janus and logan what happened
Virgil: please
Virgil: if this gets out it'll distract from my launch and my agency will kill me and this story will be literally everywhere
roman: i won't let it out to the public
Virgil: okay
roman: are we ever going to like, talk about it?
Virgil: um
~~~
Virgil tossed his phone across his bedroom. Thank God for his powerful case.
What have I done?
He imagined Roman with a broken heart, and he couldn't stand to look at the mental image for more than a second.
If he kissed Roman, he would only get played again.
If he told him he just wanted to be friends, he'd led him on.
And if Roman didn't have ulterior motives, if his feelings were there without the backup of greed, how would Virgil ever fully trust it? How would he ever know for sure?
~~~
Roman could still feel Virgil's warm breath against him, and his fingers dragged slowly across his lips as he processed.
That really happened.
His heart fluttered, somehow at the same time it felt heavy in his chest.
He wanted to kiss him so badly, it hurt. He hadn't even realized until then how much he craved the touch of Virgil's lips pressed against his own. The desire was burning him, but so was that image of Virgil's look of dead fear when he pulled away.
He would respect Virgil's wishes, no matter how much Roman wanted him.
This stupid crush is getting way out of control.
When he had went to Logan and Janus about it on a group FaceTime, they both let out a sigh at the same time. Logan was contemplating how to fix the situation and Janus just had his hand over his mouth.
Whatever.
Roman spent the rest of his day preparing for the opening night of Rent, trying to get Virgil off his mind. The reason he could allow Virgil over anyway was because there was a time gap between the end of his daily classes and rehearsal since he finished everything early.
He was starting to regret it, though. Or maybe he didn't regret it at all.
Luke asked, "Has he confessed his undying love for you yet?"
Roman shook his head. "As if."
After they ran through the finale of the show for the second time that day, he realized: Shit. Does this mean I owe them money now?
He was promptly interrupted by his director asking, "Are you inviting Virgil to the show? We still have a few open seats."
"Uh, I haven't. I might," Roman replied.
"Please do! It would be an honor."
Roman truly would, but how was he supposed to speak to Virgil in a normal way again?
