Roman poked Janus' shoulder. "Then why don't you just tell him?"

"Oh, I wonder- Oh yeah. He keeps saying he isn't into me whenever you bring it up," Janus groaned. "Logan's not a liar."

"He's not, he's just oblivious when it comes to emotions. It's one of the few things he can't top me at."

Janus scoffed.

"I have an idea-"

"That's how all bad things start."

"Hey! I was just going to say, as a grand gesture, you could suggest to Virgil a song about love-"

"Gross. He won't say yes."

"Why do you bitches keep cutting me off?" Roman complained. "I was going to say that if he says no, just write one yourself and then have Logan listen to it because he listens to all your music anyway."

"He... does?"

"No shit, we're your friends." Roman hit the back of Janus' head gently.

"I mean, he's not really a music guy. I can only remember he likes Queen and Frank Ocean. I mean he has listened to some King Princess because of you and Billie Eilish because of me."

"You're an exception because he's in love with you!" Roman exclaimed. "At least flirt with him a little, just without going too far. He'll realize someday."

They both heard the turn of the key and Logan walked in, looking like he hadn't slept in years. He yawned loudly and sat down next to Janus and Roman.

"Uh, you good?" Roman asked.

Logan shrugged and paused whatever music he was playing on his phone. "My boss is an asshole. I'd quit but I need to find a new job first."

Janus cocked his head to the side. "What did he do?"

"He has such shitty anger issues. I had to stop him from yelling at a 15 year old girl today. It's her first day at any job ever. I helped her, but now I'm exhausted. But, whatever. You two looked like you were saying something before I came over. Is something happening?"

Roman covered his shit eating grin with his hand and Janus smiled awkwardly. "No," the second oldest said through clenched teeth.

The nerd's eyes darted from Roman to Janus back and forth several times before he just said, "O...kay."

"Ooh! Both of you, wanna come to a party with me this weekend?" Roman asked, changing the subject.

Both of the other students looked at Roman like he was insane. "A party?" they said in unison.

"I haven't been to a party except for your 16th birthday. Which is the reason I don't go to parties, by the way," Logan stated.

"It's a college party. It'll be fun!" Roman insisted. "Freshman year is going to be over mid-June!"

Janus sighed. "I'll go if Logan goes. I don't trust Roman to keep track of me and I don't want to be alone but Logan, you and I can leave together whenever we want."

"I'll go for the experience. But thirty minutes, maximum," Logan said.

"Works for me."

Roman pouted, but he also didn't want to pressure his introvert friends way too far into something that would make them uncomfortable. "Fine."

Virgil always liked these sorts of interviews more, like when they were for a YouTube video. He'd gotten used to a big crowd for the most part, but nothing could go wrong in a little studio where it was just him, the interviewer, and the cameras.

His microphone sat on the table and he turned it on.

A tall blonde woman named Vivi Lopez was the interviewer and she did a standard introduction. Virgil waved at the camera.

"Vivi, I've been watching your videos for a while. I've always wanted to be on here, and now I am, which is cool," Virgil said awkwardly. "I just always liked how chill your interviews are, and you're way more specific with your questions."

"I'm flattered, Virgil!" Vivi said. She was young, slightly past her mid-20's, and almost the entire internet adored her.

During the first section, Vivi mentioned Virgil's Instagram story post about the paparazzi incident.

"Yeah," Virgil responded with a light laugh. "Uh, having that many people touch me where I didn't want to be touched was so gross. Ugh. People forget I'm a person sometimes. You wouldn't just go to a stranger on the street and start groping them, and if you are that kind of person, you're a dick. Y'know?"

Vivi replied with, "I think privacy invasion is a huge problem people like you and I face, especially stars like you. That happened with your friend Patton too, right?"

"Oh, yup. And Patton told me he was okay with me talking about our conversation about this publicly, so I'm just gonna do it. When everyone was shitting on Patton until he had to turn off comments and messages, he called me and asked me if he did anything wrong, which is just dumb. He was so upset because thousands of people were swarming him with hate, and for what?"

"I saw on your story you spoke out and said those people aren't your real fans. Good for you!"

"Absolutely. I understand kinda, when people thought he was just another dude using me, but he was my friend in middle school. I didn't even have a SoundCloud in middle school. Literally nobody knew me. I only started having a couple thousand casual fans in like, freshman year, and nothing ever changed."

"Wanna talk about him more?"

"Sure. Honestly, he practically saved my life. I got bullied so hard, and I've mentioned the bullying before in other interviews and my music without too much depth. But seriously, I wouldn't be at this level without him. Oh, by the way, all those people who bullied me are now switching up saying I was best friends with them. It's hilarious."

"Ugh, cheers to that," Vivi joked. "I've never personally been bullied, but I felt that. It feels so good to embarrass them, too."

"Right?"

Then the topic faded into the new album.

"Any more info you can share about it at the moment?"

"Well, since my manager said I can spoil, I said it's gonna be fourteen tracks but something came up and I'm doing a collaboration with this small artist that Patton introduced me to. So I'm adding a song last minute."

Vivi gasped. "Could you say who?"

"Once the song is finished, I'll make it public who it is. Right now, it's just been me and him, my label, Patton, and probably some of this artist's friends too. A hint: he's on SoundCloud. Which is cool that I found him there because, y'know."

Thank God, the constant topic of dating didn't come up again and after the interview, Virgil (sort of) peacefully went home and checked his messages.

jseymour: so this was an idea from one of my friends and not from me, but you said to pitch in any ideas so

jseymour: there's this guy i'm into and we've been friends for a long time so that friend i mentioned earlier said to ask if we could write a song sort of about him, but with your input since it's going on your album

virgil: actually that sounds cool, i haven't written an above semi-positive love song in a while

virgil: i've already gotta couple ideas for this song you want to write for your friend. meet me at the studio on the date joan told you to and we'll plow through this thinggg
