"If we want to be friends, we should act like it," Roman chuckled.
"What do you mean?" Virgil asked.
Roman pointed down at Virgil's hand which was intertwined with his. Virgil grunted, "Friends can hold hands. I'm just cold."
"It's almost June."
"Yeah? Well, it's-"
"We live in LA."
"It's cold inside, okay? Goddamn! Let me live!" He sounded mad but he didn't let go of Roman's hand. "Plus, we're safe to talk about complicated stuff here. Only my team and people I trust are allowed in this studio."
He unlocked the door and went in. It was familiar to Roman, who'd seen multiple dance studios in his lifetime, but it was massive.
Virgil went to play the song for Roman in order to dance to it, but he stopped to say, "I guess this means you get to hear a full leaked song."
"Yay!" Roman cheered and sat down by the mirror Virgil stood in front of.
Virgil took off his hoodie, revealing a loose tank top underneath. Since he warmed up at home before picking Roman up, he got started easily with the music playing. The song was titled Isolate and contained some unexpected rap portions.
Roman watched Virgil's careful moves in awe. His facials were so...
Hot.
He could hear Virgil's voice over the song playing, following the lyrics. Beside that, Virgil was a more fluidity-based dancer. Despite not training nearly as long as Roman, Roman still thought he was solid.
Even when he had issues, Virgil was a performer, and he still sold the dance with his vocals. But Roman kept note of critiques he could give.
When Virgil was finished, he covered his face with his hands. "That sucked ass. Ugh."
"No, it didn't!" Roman said. He stood up by Virgil and went through his mental notes. "You look nervous. The more you relax, the less stiff your torso's gonna be. Your isolations are great everywhere else but you aren't letting go enough."
"If you haven't noticed yet, I'm not the best at relaxing. Even if I relax now, I'm not going to be relaxed in front of the people in the huge stadiums I'm performing in!"
"Trust yourself. You've got this." He put a hand on Virgil's shoulder. "Who cares if you make a mistake? The worst thing that'll happen is a Karen might want a refund. People mess up on stage all the time. I do, too. Shit happens when you do live theatre."
"I know," the singer grumbled.
"Truth is, I get stressed about being perfect on stage too. I have really high expectations, I guess... even though I know it's kinda unrealistic. But you'll be fine. Anyways I really like your choreo. I don't think anything is wrong with it, just how you present yourself. Let loose a little, okay?"
He jogged over to Virgil's phone and replayed the song, then rushed back to his spot. "Let's do it and figure out what you're uneasy about as we go?"
Virgil nodded.
Then he was shocked to see Roman had done the full choreography almost perfectly, with his own personal flair.
"I missed a step or two," Roman said, "but it feels comfortable. What's your problem with it?"
Virgil had his mouth gaping open in his friend's direction.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"You watched me do it once and you know the entire thing?!"
"Uh, yeah? Good memory makes a good dancer, honey. And I want to be the best. Your choreography isn't insanely complicated either. It has a few complicated parts, but overall, it's not bad."
