CHAPTER 14

2 Months Later

Faith sat in her car not knowing whether or not she should go check in or not. Work didn’t start for another 10 minutes, but Faith was known for entering early. She didn’t feel herself lately-correction: the past 2 months. The last day of Nathanial’s stay at the hospital, she overheard Nathanial’s question and Alex’s response.

He said he still loved her. She knew she still loved him but had come to terms with never being with him again. She hadn’t spoken to Alex since then, but he still communicated. Of course he tried communicating by sending over money, although she didn’t require him to pay child support. Alex also had called her phone many times, at least once every other day…Faith knew deep inside she wanted answer his calls but it would feel right. It was too late. Melissa was…had the baby. They were meant to marry in matter of weeks…Maybe even days.

“Sweetie, can you get Janet?” Melissa requested from the kitchen through Janet’s cries.

“Alright.” Alex walked to the corner of the room where Janet was and picked her up. She slowly quieted down to a whimper as she clenched onto his shirt. “It’s okay…Daddy’s here.”

Alex wasn’t feeling right lately. He never discovered if Faith heard (or found out) his words to Nathanial. On top of it all, he’s been trying to contact Faith since he last saw her. He knows where they live but refuses to take that chance of getting yelled at.

“Melissa is up and running now…” Alex thought to himself. “And we’re getting married in less than two months…”

He didn’t have cold feet. He just wasn’t sure if he had the heart anymore. Alex felt Janet fall asleep again and laid her back in the crib

Faith popped in his head more than Melissa. Natasha and Nathanial was thought more about whenever he wasn’t taking care of baby Janet. He needed closure. He needed Faith.
