CHAPTER 2
Alex arrived home with a smile after work. After hours of working hard with clients, he tried to look up anything he could about Faith.
Faith Thomas. 21. 5’6. Brown eyes and hair. Shoe size 9.
Alex stopped thinking for a second, realizing his thoughts came off a bit stalkerish. And as if on cue, Adrian’s name appeared on the screen of his cell phone.
“Hey.”
“Hey bro. You cool?”
“Yeah. Why?”
“Cause that little make out scene from Saturday was hot as hell!”
Alex gave a small scoff. “How you know about that.”
“At first I was looking for stars, but found you with this new invention called security cameras,” Adrian sarcastically responded.
“Don’t be a smart ass.”
Adrian ignored Alex’s comment then quickly asked “So who’s this lady of yours?”
“Ahh…you don’t want to know.”
“C’mon, tell me. I’m getting married. Remember?”
Alex sighed and looked out his window to street traffic. “Faith.”
There was a pause on the other end. “Thomas?”
“Yeah, why you surprised? She’s part of your fiancé’s singing group.”
“I know, Connie told me…How come I didn’t see her?”
“Well, your loss.” For once Alex felt like he had the upper half against Adrian. “Plus, you’re getting married, so…yeah.”
“I know. I know. Hey, I’ma go and call it a night, bro.”
“Night.” Alex hung up with a wider smile on his face. Tomorrow he would make his move.

Faith, Connie, and Aliza stepped out the recording booth with loud sighs. “Damn, my head is killing me.”
“For real! Rez needs to chill knowing I can’t hit those high notes that Connie can!”
“Shoot, at least yall can-”
“Ms. Thomas? Someone’s here to see you.”
“Oooh!” Aliza and Connie said in unison.
“We’ll see you after lunch,” Aliza winked.
Faith had no idea what was going on. She walked into the lobby and saw Alex standing patiently. “Hey…”
“Getting straight to the point, I am taking you out to lunch today.”
Faith answered with a skeptical look. “And if I had plans?”
“Plans can be canceled,” he grinned. “So?”
“Let me get my purse.”
Faith sat in Alex’s black Lexus feeling cozy in the leather seats. Alex read up on Faith so didn’t ask any questions regarding general things.
“So what do you do for a living?’ Faith asked cutting through the musical silence.
Alex turned down the music a little with a smirk. “I’m an executive of my dad’s lawyer business, Wolfe Incorporated. Usually I would ask the question in return, but it’s obvious.”
Faith let out a small giggle. “Well when you’re in the public eye…” She joked.
“I see comedy is also a part of your talents.”
Faith smiled then looked out the window. The clean water under the bridge seemed to remind her of the beautiful beaches of South Florida. “Why did you want to do this?”
“Pick you up for lunch or take the long way?”
“Alex-”
“Calm down. I could stop thinking about you after our little run in at the engagement party.”
“After a small kiss?”
Alex parked the car in the lot of a pent house. “After I saw you again after five years.”
Faith’s face flushed before turning away and looking up at the pent house. Alex got out the car and opened the door for her with a warm smile. They walked up the stairs to the pent house and opened the door to an elegant designed them. In the middle of the living room was an open space only filled with a round table and two chairs.
“Looks more like dinner.”
Alex walked to the patio French doors and opened the blinds. “And now?”
Faith sat down in a chair and smiled. “Better.”
Alex brought out baked chicken with a splash of lemon juice spread across it. “Hope you’re not vegetarian or vegan,” Alex joked.
“Vegetarian? Vegan?” Please. You are talking to a southern here.”
“Oh, well pardon me mam.”
“So,” Faith started. “This your bachelor pad?”
“Only on Fridays.” Faith shot Alex a look. “Kidding. I go it through the company. My real house is across town.”
“Sounds wonderful.”
“Well, you’ve been asking all the questions here…Were you purposely avoiding Adrian. At the party, that is.”
“Well, after being played so many times by the high school football star of the year, you tend to avoid the negativity.”
“Things changes.”
Faith looked up at Alex’s eyes. “People change.”
Silence consumed the house as they stared at each other. Alex leaned in for a kiss across the table.
“Alex…” Faith’s voice drifted away.
He kissed her sensually for a few moments before Faith stood up quickly with a blush across her face. Alex walked towards her and gripped onto her waist. He once against kissed her and for a longer period of time. Faith’s arms wrapped around his neck as Alex kissed hers.

The two awoke three hours later-naked. Faith sat up and saw her clothes scattered on the other side of the bed. Alex was next to her, eyes wide open and staring at her.
“I see you’re up,” Alex softly said.
“What happened?”
“I don’t know. One moment we’re kissing and the next moment we’re both naked on top of each other. But I promise I used protection." I think. "It’s all hazy.”
“I take birth controls.”
“Faith, I’m really sorry that this happened. It wasn’t-”
She French kissed him before gathering her clothes and putting them on. “Tomorrow at the same time?”
Alex sat in the bed still naked somewhat confused but happy at the same time. “Yeah. I would like that.”
Faith winked and headed for the room door only to see Adrian on the other side. “Adrian?”
“Faith?”
