CHAPTER 25
Alex stared down the aisle looking at the brides’ maid and groomsmen walking to the alter. He could see Faith and the kids in his peripheral vision on the right, but didn’t bother to look her way. He knew he wouldn’t be able to take it.
As the flower girls slowly walked their way down the alter, blue and white flowers alternating, the double doors shut behind them as the pastor requested everyone to stand for the arrival of the bride.
Melissa’s song of choice slowly began to start playing as the ushers gracefully opened the double doors revealing Melissa standing alone with a long diamond bouquet that outlined her princess ivory wedding dress with a 4 foot attached train.
Alex refrained from cringing with thoughts of knowing how much she spent on the dress. Her parents paid for the entire wedding but he knew the dress came out of his pocket.
She looked so confident and walked down the aisle like she was the damn queen. Melissa acted like one today according to Connie complaining to Adrian.
When Melissa arrived at the altar, her maid of honor moved her train out of the way, as practiced and the pastor told everyone to be seated.
“We are here to unite Alex Wolfe and Melissa Parker. The two have written their own vows.”
Melissa grabbed onto Alex’s hand and looked deep into his eyes. She looked like she wanted to cry but didn’t shed a single tear. “Alex Wolfe, when I first met you, I knew I wanted you in my life. When I kissed you, I knew I wanted to be with you. You are my life. You complete me. I want to have an ideal dream marriage with you and our daughter Janet Marie. I love you.”
“And now for the groom.”
Alex looked down at his hand clenched within Melissa’s. “Melissa…You are a beautiful woman. You are also the mother of our beautiful daughter and I love you both. You made me laugh when I was down sometimes, and has been by my side for support numerous of times…Dammit.”
“Babe..?”
“Are you okay, Alex?” the pastor said putting a hand on his shoulder.
Alex pulled away from his pull and rubbed his neck and looked at the guests. He finally looked back at Melissa and kissed her cheek. “Melissa, I can’t do this.”
“You can’t do this? Do what? Babe, are you having cold feet?” Melissa whispered to Alex holding back anger.
“As in this whole damn charade!” Alex said out loud. “I’m tired of dealing with this perfect world you are expecting me to fulfill. Sweetie, I can’t do that for you.”
“Babe, are you feeling okay? Do you need water?”
“Melissa, I’m fine. Look, it’s not just that. I’m not in love with you.”
“What? You just said you loved me.”
“As a person. I’m in love with Faith.”
Melissa screamed loudly and knocked the pastor’s stand over before slapping Alex across the face. “I fucking knew it! She’s always had it the fucking easy way! She gets everything she wants, including you!”
Alex stared at Faith who was breathing hard not knowing what to say at the event of all of this. He knew she could feel all the eyes on her now.
That was it.
“No, Melissa. You get everything you want. You think by degrading people that puts you above them but it doesn’t. The reason I love Faith is because she knows how to treat a person.”
“She slept with Adrian remember? Remember that Faith? Remember sleeping with him?”
“Hey, I fucking paid my dues!” Adrian said with the other groom’s men holding him back.
“Give it a fucking rest Adrian! You and some bitch had sex in New Orleans!”
Connie jumped out of the bride’s maid line and stared at Adrian before Dashawn and Darius started yelling. “You cheated on Mama?”
“Swear you not a real man!”
“SHUT THE FUCK UP EVERYBODY,” Alex finally yelled silencing everyone in the crowd. “This is what I’m talking about. You’re degrading everyone else to make you look better. Not even that dress can make you look beautiful on the inside.”
Melissa yanked off her tiara and threw it at Alex, missing him and all the groom’s men. “Alexander Wolfe. If you don’t stop playing these games and say ‘I do’, I swear I’ll ruin you so-”
“That’s enough, Melissa!” Ms. Parker yelled out standing. “You are not going to keep this up any longer!”
“Dana-”Mr. Parker said trying to calm her down.
“Shut up Derrik. It’s partially your fault.”
“Mommy, are you going to let him-”
“We’ve over spoiled your ass to the point no return. Using our money as a getaway.”
“Spoiled? I-I…UGH!” Melissa screamed loudly and stormed out of the double doors pushing the ushers out the way.
“Um…” The pastor slowly said.
Alex looked into the guests and didn’t see Faith or the kids anymore. He had to find Faith. “I’m sorry everybody but there will be no wedding today, go home,” Alex said before running out the door to the parking lot.

Faith was trying to dry her tears as she and the twins rushed to the car.
“Mama-”Natasha pleaded.
“Shut up and just get in the damn car!”
“Faith!” Alex called running around all the parked cars.
She ignored him and fumbled with her keys to unlock the door she had just accidently locked. Alex had caught up with her by then, grabbing her arms.
“Let go of me!” Faith screamed pounding his chest.
“Not until you tell me why you walked out.”
“Because, Alex,” Faith said breathlessly yanking away from his grip. “You…”
“I what? Confessed my love for you in front of everyone? Is that it?”
Faith turned around and tried to unlock the door before getting turned back around by Alex. He kissed her passionately holding her wrists down tightly.
She stopped him and could feel more tears down her face resisting. “Alex stop I-”
Alex kissed Faith again more passionately until she stopped resisting. “Faith…”
“Alex please don’t leave me again,” She started to cry.
“I won’t babe, I won’t,” he wiped her tears before kissing her once more.
