CHAPTER 15
Natasha ran into her room when she got home and dialed Dashawn’s number.
“Hey,” a voice answered.
“Hey Dee.”
“So what’s up bae?”
Natasha laughed. “We need to stop starting our conversations like this.”
Dashawn laughed along. “Okay, okay. We still on for tonight?”
“Yeah. Kamren said she’ll come and pick me up.”
“A’ight. Cool with me…You better wear something sexy.”
“Like…?”
“Nothing.”
“Bae-”
“Kidding. I don’t know. Just something sexy.”
“Mmhmm. I got you.”
“I hope so,” he laughed before they said their goodbye’s and hung up. Natasha dropped her phone on her bed and skimmed her closet for tonight’s party.”
_______________
Faith sat on her couch half asleep from her movie selection. Tonight’s blue moon alone time was involving a bowl of kettle corn popcorn and Netflix. With Natasha at a party and Nathanial at a friend’s, she needed this. Deserved, even.
Almost out of popcorn and the movie half over, a ring at her doorbell startled her. When she touched her door knob, something felt off but she opened it anyway.
“Hey,” Alex said as he stood in her doorway.
“Alex-”
“Faith, we need to talk.”
______________
Natasha arrived at the party and the teen club and texted Dashawn upon her arrival as promised. She could feel her mini dress hug her hips as she walked inside next to Kamren. Her pumps shined as the lights hit the floor.
“Damn, bae,” Dashawn said as he approached her. “Sexy is definitely your name tonight!”
“Whatever,” Natasha giggled. She grabbed Dashawn hand and led him to the dance floor. Dashawn stood behind Natasha as she danced, him holding her waist.
“Bae…”Dashawn called with a smile.
“Yeah?” Natasha spun around and faced him.
“Follow me.”
Dashawn led Natasha to the back of the teen club and into a broom closet. “Dashawn, what the-”
“Calm down. The janitors aren’t coming back ‘til around closing,” Dashawn reassured, kissing Natasha and held her waist close to his.
“Stop,” Natasha said, pulling away.
Dashawn touched the ends of her dress, slightly lifting it up. “Why? We not gonna get caught, bae.”
She grabbed his hands and moved them away. “I’m just not in the mood for that…”
Dashawn sighed and faced Natasha. “Okay.” He simply said before he locked the closet door.
“Bae-”
He pinned Natasha against the wall and got close to her face. He kissed around her neck and to her lips. One of his hands traveled down her hips and to the ends of her skirt again.
“Damn, bae…You just don’t know what-”
Natasha heard the music fade away as Dashawn’s scream of pain echoed loudly through the building and closet. She unlocked the janitor’s door and walked out, pulling down her skirt. She looked back at Dashawn curled on the ground in pain.
“What happened?” Karmen asked running up to Natasha and looking at everyone looking at Dashawn.
“No means no,” Natasha smiled.
_______________
“Alex, I-”
“No, Faith. Let me finish…I can’t get you out of my head. It’s like the day we met…again at the party,” Alex took a deep breath and stopped pacing in the middle of the room. “Faith…I still love you.”
Faith looked away and proceeded to walk away from the living room. “I know,” She whispered silently.
Alex grabbed her hand and spun her around. On impulse, he passionately kissed Faith and held her waist close to his.
“Alex!” Faith cried. Tears were already rolling down her cheek. “I can’t…I just, can’t. This is exactly how the thing with me and Adrian started. It turns into a 1 hour hook up and into a publicized love affair. You have Melissa. You have your baby. I don’t want to ruin that for you. You need better.”
“You are better. Melissa…she…look, you have things that Melissa doesn’t and probably will never have.”
“You mean Natasha and Nathanial.”
“I mean my heart.”
Faith scoffed. “Oh, oh wow. So you’re marrying someone you don’t love?”
“I love Melissa. I really do. But not on the level you and me had…have.”
“Had, Alex. Had,” Faith replied looking in Alex’s eyes.
“5 weeks.”
“What?”
“I get married to Melissa in 5 weeks.”
Faith stared at Alex, wondering how he knew what she was wondering regarding the wedding. “I-”
“I’ll let myself out,” Alex interrupted.
“Alex…” Faith called out softly as she saw him walk away.
“One question.” Faith remained quiet. “Do you still love me too?”
Faith looked at the back of Alex’s head. “I’m…I’m not exactly sure. Yes, but I-”
“That’s all I needed to know,” Alex said letting himself out.
Faith looked at the door, almost in tears. “I love you…” she whispered out loud, lying on her couch and closing her eyes.
