CHAPTER 23

Day Before Wedding

The muffled music of the bachelorette party could be heard in the bathroom where Melissa was in. As she fixed her hair and smoothed out her outfit, the only thing she was focused on was making sure everything went according to plan.

Faith and her near bastard ass kids might have been coming to the wedding but nothing was about to ruin her perfect day. She was going to marry Alex. She was going to show Faith that it was never meant to be with her, but Melissa Tiara Parker.

Melissa didn’t care if Faith showed up or not anymore. All she cared about was making sure jealousy would break her down. To see tears of pain run down Faith’s eyes would really make her year.

       Yes.

She had to make this happen, down to the smallest bouquet flower. This wedding had to be perfect. She had to be perfect.

“Melissa? You okay?” Aliza asked coming in the bathroom checking on her.

       “Yes, sweetie. Just thinking.”

       “About the wedding?”

Melissa lightly laughed. “Yes.  Just a lot of things that I want to make sure happen. Complete perfection.”

“I’m sure the wedding planner has it under control.”

       “Not what I’m thinking of.”

       “Huh?”

Melissa checked herself and put on a forced smile. “Nothing. Didn’t mean to say that. Go ahead and go back to the party. I’ll be back out in a second.”

Aliza stared at Melissa with a confused look. She decided it wasn’t best to argue with her considering she knew Melissa was acting strange lately.

       Obsessive with perfection.

       “I think she’s narcissist.”

       “What do you mean narcissist?”

Shaniva sat on the couch and looked at both Connie and Aliza. “I did a college report on narcissists before. There was something about a man named Hotchkiss who simplified it a simple way.”

“Which is?” Connie asked sipping her drink.

“The inability to have shame, arrogance, personal entitlements, Inability to recognize boundaries, distortion, envy, and last but not least, exploitation.”

“Woah. Wait. I don’t think she’s all of those things. I mean, maybe arrogance and slight jealousy, but that other stuff, I have to see to believe.”

Shaniva shook her head. “No one will ever know unless her true colors are shown.”

Maybe Shaniva was right. Maybe Melissa was narcissistic. Aliza finally stepped out of the bathroom and back towards the bachelorette party.
