Unexpectedly

Chapter Four

Jihyo's POV

All of us are now walking to the ice cream store nearby, since Sana was craving for it and then everyone suddenly wanted one too. Of course, the lovebirds are together again as always. The ostrich and the bunny. But there's a new pair of closeness forming unexpectedly, bringing curiosity to each and every one of us.

"How come Mina's smiling when she's with the cub?" Dahyun suddenly asked me while looking at the two, then I looked as well. They're together again, and Mina just laughed at something Chaeyoung said. It's so rare to see our penguin acting like that with a new person she just met, that's why we're all curious. 

"I don't know dubu. I guess Mina is already opening up to Chaeyoung. Let them be, at least our penguin is happy." I answered her as I focused on the road again, and Dahyun did the same.

"Huh? Penguin?" Dahyun told me with a questioning look.

"Look at the way she walks, then you'll have my answer." I laughed at her. Mina's waddle-like walk is so obvious, how come they aren't noticing it? 

Dahyun followed my order then laughed. "Ah, okay. It's so clear to me now. It's cute tho" She added, still laughing. I laughed as well, agreeing.

"It's so nice seeing her laugh and smile like that tho, it's been so long since I last have seen her like this. Even us, we never managed to make her that happy." I told her. It's true tho. None of us; Momo, Nayeon, and I, have ever made Mina laugh like that. It's actually a good thing we met the others.

"Well it's a good thing then, we met you guys and you guys met us." Dahyun said.

"Mhm, and it's all thanks to those two lovebirds in the front." I said, nodding to Jeongyeon and Nayeon.

Dahyun just nodded in agreement and we both fell into a comfortable silence.

Mina's POV

Right now, Chaeyoung is just asking me random questions, and I ask her some as well. I can sense that Chaeyoung's doing her best for me to be cool with her, and so far she's doing okay as long as she won't ask me personal questions.

"Okay, next question. What's your most favorite in the world?" She asked.

"Ketchup." I told her.

"What? Ketchup?" She laughed at me. I just rolled my eyes at her playfully. "Okay okay. Ketchup it is then, penguin." She added and pinched my cheeks.

I just realized that Chaeyoung's not like other people. She's really trying hard to be friends with me. Most of the times, people won't bother talking to me since it's either I am not initiating with the conversation, or I am just simply emotionless. But Chaeyoung? She doesn't care if I won't answer her question, and will just proceed with another one or she will do or tell me something to entertain me. Her friends are so lucky to have someone like her.

"I love strawberries. People find it weird too whenever I tell them that I love strawberries since they'd least expect it from a cool person like me." She shook or head and laughed. "But I don't blame them, since I was also surprised that you answered ketchup. I mean, you could have answered any thing in the world, and you answered ketchup?" She added, trying to hold her laughter.

"You are so mean" I pouted and crossed my arms.

She finally laughed and wrapped her arm around me as we walked and said, "I'm sorry, I was just joking. You're so cute, you know?"

I just blushed and removed her arm from my shoulder.

"You are still a meanie." I pouted again and crossed my arms.

"I am not! It's true, you are cute. A cute penguin" She teased more. Oh, so you really love teasing me huh? It's on then, cub.

I just stuck my tongue out at her, then I ran to Jihyo and Dahyun. Chaeyoung is still laughing at the back tho. Jihyo immediately noticed my presence and asked me, "Hey, you okay?"

I went closer to her ear and told her, "Chaeyoung keeps teasing me, so I'm gonna pretend to be mad. Just play with it, please?"

Jihyo just silently laughed and nodded, as well as Dahyun. And then suddenly we heard footsteps approaching from behind, and we're sure it's Chaeyoung. She was about to say something to us but Jihyo beat her to it.

"What are you doing here?" Jihyo asked in fake annoyance, while Dahyun and I are stiffling our laughter.

"What do you mean?" Chaeyoung asked, taken aback from Jihyo's outburst.

"Stop teasing our penguin, shorty." Jihyo said as she moved the three of us away from Chaeyoung.

"Yaahhh! You're not even that tall!" Chaeyoung said catching up.

"But you're still shorter than me." Jihyo told her and stuck her tongue out.

Chaeyoung just pouted and stopped catching up with us. This is so fun to watch, Chaeyoung acting like a kid, wherein she actually looks like one, and being roasted by the godmother of this new formed squad.

The three of us then laughed and saw that we've already arrived at the ice cream store.
