Unexpectedly

Chapter Forty-Five

Mina's POV

"Any divulgence of information about this investigation could jeopardize each of our own lives." Tzuyu said flatly as Dahyun remained astounded by everything she just said. Tzuyu and Jeongyeon had just revealed everything they have discovered, and it got everyone in shock.

"Calm down, Chaeng." Jeongyeon has her eyes locked on Chaeyoung's enclosed fist.

Then suddenly, Chaeyoung slammed her uninjured fist on the table which made all of us flinch. "WHO THE FUCK WOULD EVEN DO THIS?! DAHYUN AND I COULD HAVE DIED, FOR FUCK'S SAKE!" She shouted as I grabbed her hand to calm her down.

"Calm down baby, please." I took her in my arms and kissed her temple.

"I'm sorry." She started crying.

"Baby, no." I sighed and caressed her back. The atmosphere is now filled with silence.

I can feel Chaeyoung's dismay since to everyone of us, this case is still a complete enigma. We only thought of it as a normal accident, and now here we are, taking in the divulgences that two of our friends have looked upon on.

Not long after, Chaeyoung had finally calmed down. She sat up straight and wiped the tears off the edge of her eyes. "What now?" She asked.

"We'll surely continue this investigation. And as we are in the process of doing so, watch out for one another." Tzuyu looked at each of us. "Each one of us should be careful with unpredictable threats."

"Update me with everything." Dahyun spoke up, her eyes fixated on the floor. We gave Momo a worried look, since we know how traumatized Dahyun is by the accident. Dealing with everything must be so hard for her and Chaeyoung.

"Are you sure, babe?" Momo furrowed her eyebrows at her girlfriend.

Dahyun nodded. "I don't want to let this slide. I'm want to find the person who tried to kill us." She intertwined her fingers with Momo's.

"Dahyun's right." Chaeyoung's grip on my hand tightened. "We can't just carry on with our lives knowing that we have this serious impending danger lurking around."

"We'll update you guys with everything we'll come up with. But as of now, I want all of you to focus on your studies and personal lives as well. I will hire more people to take care of this matter." Tzuyu looked at her wristwatch. "We should head home now, don't wanna be late for school tomorrow." She stood up from her seat and went to fix her things. I diverted my eyes to Chaeyoung, who looks exhausted.

"C'mon babe, I'll drive you home." I caressed her cheek. She just nodded and we both stood up from our seats. I looked at the other girls as Chaeyoung and I bid our farewells. No words are spoken as we were on our way home. Thoughts may have clouded Chaeyoung's mind, which made her stare out in space as she remained silent. All I could do was to hold her hand as I keep telling her that everything will be okay. Not long after, she had fallen asleep. I sighed at the sight of my tired girlfriend.

To be honest, I have no idea about the guy who tried to kill both Dahyun and Chaeyoung. I thought that these kind of stuffs can only be possible in movies, but I guess I'm wrong. The girls and I did not expect this at all since we know in ourselves that we have done nothing wrong. We were happy, carefree, and loved by each other. Next thing we know, somebody is out there trying to kill Chaeyoung and Dahyun.

I was snapped out of my thoughts as Chaeyoung's house is slowly appearing in front of us. As soon as we've arrived, I waved at the cctv so that they'd let me in. I parked my car in their garage and carried a sleeping Chaeyoung inside. As soon as I stepped on their porch, their front door opened and there appeared Mrs. Son.

"Oh no, come inside quickly." She moved so that I could enter.

"Good evening mom." I smiled at her, still struggling with a sleeping Chaeyoung in my arms. Trust me, she's light as a feather, but I am also carrying both of our bags on my shoulders.

"Good evening, my daughter. You can just bring her upstairs. Have you eaten your dinner yet?" She asked.

"Not yet mom. We had a lot of things to do, which knocked this little cub out." I answered, referring to Chaeyoung.

"You can join your dad and I later. I'll just message your mom that you will be spending the night here." She smiled, as I nodded. She turned on her heels and walked to the kitchen, while I made my way upstairs to Chaeyoung's bedroom.

My hand slowly opened the door and gently placed her on the bed. After I dropped both of our bags on the couch, I closed the door behind me as I took two towels and made my way to the bathroom to take a shower.

// twenty minutes later //

I stepped out of the bathroom with both of my hair and body wrapped in towels. A sleeping Chaeyoung immediately appeared right in front of my eyes which made me smile. I walked to her closet and took a pair of her sweatpants and an oversized white shirt, then went back to the bathroom to change into them. After changing, I walked to Chaeyoung and placed a kiss on her forehead.

Hang in there baby, we'll find out who it is.

I sighed and stood up from my place as I proceeded downstairs to eat with Mr. and Mrs. Son.
