Unexpectedly

Chapter Five

Chaeyoung's POV

I just pouted at Jihyo. I didn't know that Mina would get mad over a little bit of teasing. And now I don't know what to do. Hmm.

I was the last one to enter the store, and I saw Tzuyu, Momo, and Sana. The others have finished ordering and are now sitting chilling on the bences nearby, since this ice cream store is just beside the park.

"Hey, cub. You okay?" Sana saw me pouting and hugged me. I just shook my head.

Tzuyu and Momo are already paying at the end of the line, while Sana and I are in the farthest back.

"Mina got mad because I kept teasing her." I sighed. Sana just hugged for a little more while.

"Why don't you just buy her ice cream instead and apologize?" Sana pulled away from the hug and held my face in both of her hands.

"She's already eating one." I pouted again. Sana then looked around outside like she was looking for something. Then she looked back at me again and turned my body around.

"You see that? Buy her something from that store. Maybe it'll cheer her up." Sana said as she pushed me, urging me to buy something from the store full of stuffed toys across us.

"Okay, then. Thanks Sana unnie!" I hugged her and quickly went out to go to the store that she told me to go to.

As I opened the door, it smelled like a cozy and clean room. Because of the stuffed toys and plushies, I guess.

"Good afternoon, ma'am." A staff bowed as I entered.

"Yeah, good afternoon." I greeted back, reciprocating his action.

I scanned over every stuffed toy in the store, damn they are all cute. There's even a tiger one! But that isn't what I'm looking for. I scanned the rest of the racks, until I saw a penguin. Gotcha. Damn, it really looked like Mina. Or Mina just really looks like the penguin. Ack, nevermind. I'll just buy this for her.

I picked up the penguin from it's place and went to the counter to pay for Mina. I mean the penguin.

"That'll be 30 dollars, ma'am." The cashier told me, and I took out my wallet to pay with my credit card. "You're actually lucky since this is the last stock we have of a penguin stuffed toy." She added, swiping my credit card and putting the penguin inside a paper bag.

"Oh really? Lucky me, then." I smiled at her, as she gave me back my credit card along with the paper bag. Then I put back my wallet back in my pocket and muttered thanks. She just bowed at me and told me to come again.

I quickly headed out of the store and started walking to where the group is enjoying their ice cream. Unfortunately for me, I didn't get to eat ice cream since I had to rush and buy this for Mina. I really hope Mina would forgive me. Oh, I can already see them from afar. They were sitting at a picnic table and talking with each other.

"There you are! Where have you been?" Nayeon gasped as I slowly approached them. Everyone looked my way. I ignored her and walked in front of Mina. I raised my arm which was holding the paper bag, showing her that it's for her.

She slowly put her ice cream cup down on the table, and gave me a questioning look.

"I'm really sorry for teasing you, Mina. I'm sorry if I made you mad. I promise you that I won't do it again. I bought you something, and I hope this would make up for what I did to you. Please forgive me?" I apologized to her while squeezing my eyes shut, scared of what her response will be.

Then I just felt a tug on my arm and I was pulled into a hug.

"Oh my gosh Chaeng, I was just joking around! I'm so sorry, you are so cute!" Mina softly said in my ear, since she doesn't like the attention we're getting from the other girls. I slowly hugged her back and inhaled her vanilla scent.

"I was so worried, since you left me and I got scolded by Jihyo. I was so scared." I whispered in her ear. She just giggled and muttered sorry once again. We pulled away from the hug. "It's okay, but at least you have an addition to your collection now. You have a penguin collection at your room, right?" I added.

When she heard what I said, she quickly opened the paper bag and peeked what was inside. She just squealed and hugged me again.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She repeatedly said, putting down the paper bag on the table and hugged me. I hugged her back once more, as I laughed at her cuteness.

*click*

"Oh gosh, I thought my phone was on silent" Nayeon gasped as Mina and I pulled away from the hug to look at her.

"Why didn't you double check it?"

"Seriously bunny?"

"You had one job."

The others kept blaming Nayeon, while Jeongyeon stood up for her. Cute.

"You're stupid." Tzuyu said, then went back to eating her ice cream. Everyone was silent when Tzuyu spoke, while Mina and I stiffled in our laughter. But after that, they all went back to scolding Nayeon except for Jeongyeon who's still standing up for her. Poor bunny.

Mina just giggled at the sight in front of us. I looked at her and smiled. She looked back at me. We just stared into each other's eyes, and it was getting awkward. I cleared my throat and broke the staring contest.

"GUUYSSSS!" I shouted which got the girls' attention. "It's okay, it's just a picture" I reassured them. Mina nodded in agreement.

"See? They're okay with it. Now stop blaming my baby!" Jeongyeon hugged Nayeon and patted her head at the same time. Everyone just rolled their eyes at them. I checked my wristwatch and saw that it's almost 6pm.

"We should all head home. It's getting late." I suggested as everyone stood up in agreement. We all started tidying up, and threw away our trash. Then we started heading to each of our homes.
