Chapter Forty-Four

// one week later //

Tzuyu's POV

Jeongyeon and I have been investigating about the accident ever since it happened a week ago. I hired two detectives to work with us, Detective Yang Chul and Assistant Detective Nam Seok. This case or investigation is strictly confidential, but we're actually planning to tell it to the rest of the girls tomorrow, including Chaeyoung and Dahyun. They have a right to know.

I looked at my wristwatch and saw that it's almost 8 pm.

"They'd be arriving any minute now." I informed Jeongyeon as she took off her coat and hung it on the coat rack.

"I told Nayeon that I'm visiting my grandparents tonight, so I'm all good." She sat on the seat next to me and took out her phone. We decided to use our phones while waiting for Mr. Yang and Mr. Nam.

*ring ring ring*

As soon as my phone rang, the two detectives entered and greeted Jeongyeon and I.

"Good evening, Ms. Chou and Ms. Yoo." I nodded at them as they filled in the other seats. looked at the caller ID.

My soon to be wife.

"Would you excuse me, I'll have to take this quick call. Carry on with the meeting, I'll catch up." I walked to the kitchen and answered the call.

"Hey love." She greeted.

"Babygirl." I greeted back.

"I called because I miss you." Her small confession made me smile. I want to hug her right now.

"I miss you too baby. I'll pick you up tomorrow at 9 am, aight?" I waited for her answer, but the other side of the call remained silent. "Babe?" I called out, but then I heard a giggle.

"I'm sorry, I nodded. I forgot that this was a phone call." She apologized.

I chuckled at her. "My clumsy girlfriend. I gotta go now. See you tomorrow, I love you."

"I can't wait. I love you more!" She said as she ended the call. I immediately put my phone back in my backpocket and started heading back to the meeting. I went back to my seat and joined in the conversation.

"The speed of the truck was way over the speed limit, and the driver was seen leaving the scene while the ambulance was still on its way. It clearly shows that the accident was intentional." Mr. Yang explained.

"And the problem is, his face couldn't be seen in the cctv footage. We only have one clue about the guy; a snake tattoo on the dorsal surface of his hand." Mr. Nam sighed in disappointment.

"So this is what we've come up with so far?" Jeongyeon asked them. The four of us are in my penthouse since we can't have this kind of discussion at my house.

"Unfortunately, yes." Mr. Nam answered.

"Don't worry Jeong, we'll find this person no matter what. We'll make him pay for what he did to Chaeng and Dahyun." I patted her back as I faced the two detectives. "You guys get some rest, just wait for my call anytime. This meeting is now dismissed." I told them as they bowed and left.

"Can I crash?" Jeongyeon asked as she stretched her arms.

"Sure, you know where the stuffs are. Help yourself." I stood up and went to the kitchen to make a late dinner for us.

Chaeyoung's POV

It's been a week since Dahyun and I's accident, and fortunately things had gotten so much better. The 7 girls are taking good care of us, especially my girlfriend. Mina has been very careful of me; like making sure that I don't skip any meals, I take the right meds, making sure that I don't miss anything in school, and driving me anywhere. She has always been here by my side and I couldn't be more grateful for having her.

"We're here babe." Mina turned off the engine and got off her seat. Mina and I had just arrived at Samhyook Medical Center, for my check up.

"Thank you." I thanked her as she helped me. She locked the car and we both entered the hospital to go straight to Dr. Manoban's office.

"Good morning Dr. Manoban." I greeted as we entered her office.

"Good morning to you lovebirds, both of you can take a seat. How's your arm?" She smiled and gestured her hand to the two chairs in front of her table.

Mina and I took a seat. "Even though the pain is inevitable, I can handle it. Especially with my friends' and girlfriend's care." I answered.

Dr. Manoban chuckled at my answer. "Good to hear. So let's start with the check up, shall we?" She stood up as I nodded.

_ * fifteen minutes later * _

"I actually thought that I'll be taking this cast off today, I've had enough of it already." I sighed as we exited from the hospital.

Mina chuckled. "One more week, baby." She kissed the back of my hand which is intertwined with hers.

"But it's getting annoying." I pouted. She just rolled her eyes as we walked towards her car. "Oh c'mon, it's true."

Mina backed out of the parking lot and started driving home, but then suddenly my phone rang.

I looked at the caller ID. Ostrich. Why is she calling? I furrowed my eyebrows as I answered the call.

"Hey jeong, why did you call?" I immediately asked her.

"Meet Tzuyu and I at her penthouse later. Bring the other girls with you." She said in a serious tone and ended the call right away.

I looked at Mina with confusion. "Jeong wants us to meet her and Tzuyu later. She told me to bring the other girls as well." She glanced at me with a confused look, but nodded anyways and went back to focus on the road.

Now, what the heck was that?
