7 Years From Now

Chapter 5:- Again

Riku: “at first, I thought he was joking. But then he said he really doesn’t remember at all. And the story was that his 2 months training was so hard that it affected his memories.”
“Ohh. But is that even possible?”
“Exactly?. That wasn’t because of the work. There is something else to it.”
“Hmmm. Something huh.. well , I don’t really know what to say.”
“There is more to it…”
And so Riku started saying about some strange things. But of course he didn’t have any evidence to prove it.
Me: “ so what you’re saying is that LMD can be cured?”
“ yes”
“ So LMD is incurable . This statement was a lie. That means Kakeru can be cured too!”
“ that’s right. I don’t have the evidence though. But I’m telling you, this hospital is really strange! There is something to it. Believe me”
“ something..”
I knew Riku wouldn’t just pick out these things. He was pretty much serious. And I really wanted to know what happened here. And who started all these.
So I said

“ alright Riku. I’ll believe you. So tell me, you wanted my help regarding something right?”
“ Ohh that..”
He looked a bit serious.
“ Yea? Is it something bad?”
“ no it’s just that , if u get caught. You might be arrested”
“Arrested??. Dude?? Then I’m gonna skip this one”
He looked at me with a dissatisfied face.
“ are you for real? Come on man”
That face was really funny. I just laughed out.
“ Haruto . I ain’t kidding man”
“ yea yea alright. I was joking. I’ll help you. But that aside. You must have worked hard. I mean, to find Dr Shintani. It must have been really a thing.”
“Ahh my university professor helped me regarding this.”
“ hold on. What? Are u already in university?”
“ of course. Dude. I’m two years older than you”
“Huh???”
“ really? You remember the fried rice but you don’t remember my age “
I corrected him.
“ Its gravy fried rice”
“Wow..”
We laughed again. I felt that best friend feeling. The feeling when you are around your childhood friend.
“ Well Haruto , listen if everything goes fine from here. I’ll tell you everything what you want to know”
“Alright. I’m in”
“ cool!”
“ also.. the girl I was asking you about… Aoi”
“Oh yea her. It’s true that she passed away. But I wasn’t there at that time. So I don’t know much of details.”
“ Ohh..”
“ you can ask Kakeru later. He knows about it”
“Hmm fine..”
I heard him talking to himself.
“Maybe.. aoi was…”.
“ Was???”
“ Nothing. Leave that. Let’s go for now. You see we can’t go to the past but there are people out there who are profiting by killing the LMD patients. Haruto, we need to work together regarding this. Nobody would trust us anyway.”
“ yea.. that’s right. This really can’t be coincidence”

All I thought was,' if that girl whom I made promise to, if she really was aoi. Then the promise had already… ‘
“Hey Haruto? You ok?”
“ Y-yea..”
I still can’t believe the fact. The more I’m getting the facts the more it’s making me worried.
“ Follow me”
“ to where?”
He lead me to the hospital. We were in building 2. We were right at the corner of the room.
Riku pointed towards a door .
“ You see that door right there?”

There was a steel door. It was quite the opposite corner of the room. There wasn’t anybody around it.

“ Yea . What about it?”
“ That’s the door which leads to the underground. That’s the door Dr Shintani was talking about. There are few confidential files hidden there .”
“ Dude, you sound like you have been there before”
“ actually yes I have been there… even you have too. Back when we were kids. But they didn’t have that lock back then”
“ I don’t remember man”
“ So Haruto. All you have to do is, take that receptionist out from here. If u break the locks, a buzzer sounds off, through which people here would know ,even if we are nearby the door.”
“Wait, you know how to break the locks?”
“ yea , what do you think I have been doing all around staying here? I have managed to get the key cards as well”
“ damn..”
“Hehe”

Riku really was doing this. He was serious too. Haruto was scared as well.
“ listen Haruto. If I manage to get in, I’ll leave the door open, so that you can get in. And when you do so, make sure you leave the door open.”
“But wouldn’t that let them know?’”
“ See, we can’t use the same trick twice. Replaced cards , security cards. We will be caught sooner or later”
“ Are you doing this knowing that we ll get caught?”
“ yes”
Haruto realised that it was dangerous. He thought' if Riku is wrong I’ll just apologise the staff'
“ alright Riku. Let’s do this!”
“ I’m leaving the receptionist to you!”
And so Riku went off . Haruto went straight towards the receptionist. He distracted her , taking her outside that building towards building 1.
On the other hand. Riku started his job. The buzzers sounded. He immediately broke those speakers and hopped in. Luckily, there weren’t any people in the building 2.
Haruto came back.
'I wonder things went well.’ He saw that the door was open and the speaker were broken too.’ Did Riku do this?’

He went inside the room. It was getting darker as he went down the staircase. He could soon find a dim light bulb and could see the lights from the underground basement.
He saw Riku searching for files. There were huge shelves.
“Riku, the speaker..”
“ Oh yes . I had no choice because it keeps ringing untill the door gets closed. Don’t worry about that, act like you don’t know anything about that.”
“ Riku..”
“ dude, I’m leaving this shelf to you. Just find anything related to LMD.”
“ Yea sure”
They started searching.
“ damn…there are so many! We dint have much time left Haruto. Hurry up”
“yea I’m still searching. There is nothing up here”
“ go for the other shelf”
It was almost 15 mins since they broke the door.
“ Haruto, listen, Kakeru’s record will be relatively new. Start from the recent ones.”
“ alright. Umm lets see.. patient name.. ito.. no…
Takahashi.. also no. Damn there are so many!..Yadahuda ..no…tanaka.. noo.. shit isn’t there anything???”
“ Hm? This document..”
Riku was shocked to see a document. Meanwhile Haruto was searching for something. But what he found baffled his mind.
“ hasada.. no.. wait.. patient name.. Soraki Haruto? My name??? . Wait this is..”
He continued reading.
“ date of surgery.. 1st April.. that too seven years ago..  this is my … surgical record..
Diagnosis:- dilated cardiomyopathy…
Surgical method:- heart transplant..?? What???..”
As he read the donors name. He could feel his hands trembling. His heart rate increased. He could feel the Goosebumps on him.
“ Heart donor: Aihana Aoi!!!!”

He stood there looking at the document. He couldn’t speak anything. He could literally hear his heartbeats. He couldn’t hear anything else. Just then , Riku came up.
“Hey Haruto, look what I found. This is what the hospital were trying to hide. The document says.. ' Reports of LMD and the incidents and activities held up at Nishikata hospital'”
“ ye.. yea? Ohhh..”
He still couldn’t think of anything.
“ Haruto.. I found Kakeru’s name on the victim’s list!.. and –”

Just then the lights went out. The room was pitch black.
“ huh?? What? Haruto you alright? ! A blackout??!”
“ yeaa I’m alright! What about you… Hey ? Who is this? Who are you???”
“ Haruto !! Run! Just R---”
“ Riku! Ri—”
Just then there was sound of blast.

Everything went black. A white light was shining. Haruto opened his eyes.

“ –ruto. Haruto?..”
He saw Dr. Ichiri in front of him.
“ Haruto. You alright? You seemed a bit off! .”
Haruto was confused. He looked around. It was Dr Ichiri’s clinic..

“ dr Ichiri! Wait why am I here? Where is Riku?”
“ calm down Haruto. Are you sure you alright? Do you know what day is today?”
“ yea it’s Wednesday. 31 March. But more importantly wh---”
“ hold on a second. What are you saying?”
“ what?”
“Today is Monday… Monday 29th of March!”
…
There was a moment of silence.. .he was stunned..


“ Huh??....”
