Chapter 31: The Truth

“wha.. what?? Who are you??”
“Do you know about the flower called Akitsu carnation?”
“Who are you??”
“please answer this question first. What’s the bloom cycle of them?”
“What do you mean.. it’s 7 years right? Why are you asking this?”
*Sorry that’s incorrect.. it’s 11 years..”
“Huh?? 11? But that is 7 years.. and aren’t you a bit close.. or should I call the security..?
“Im sorry. Well.. forget that. My name is Haruto Soraki..”
“Haruto Soraki?”
“Yes..and I would like to ask you one more question….. would you like to .. go back to the past?”
Director kikusui’s eyes were widened. He was astonished..
“What?! How do you…. Are you a spy?.. no.. that doesn’t matter.. can you take back? Can you??!!”
“Do you wish to?”
“Yes of course I do!! I do!!!”
“Then answer my questions..”
“Questions..? Wait.. Haruto right?.. tell me your objectives first.. I’ll only answer depending on what you want..”
“ Don’tworry I’m not going to ask about the hospital's research.. I just want you to tell me do you have any idea about what I’m going to ask you now”
“Alright ask away..”
“Okay.. when you were around 15 or so.. did you drink any medicine regarding time leaping?”
“Medicine?? I have no idea… what’s this medicine?”
“ I’ll continue with my qs. Do you knoe about dianthuses or Akitsu carnation?”
“Yes I do..”
“Then do you know about special group of that flower which bloom once in 11 years?”
“No..”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes I wouldn’t lie about that..”
“I see.. if so.. director kikusui… I’m afraid that you won’t be able to return to the past..”
“Huh??”
“Its impossible for you to return to past now”
His face turned red. He became furious..
“What is this ? Some sort of a joke? It was stupid of me to play along with you…. You.. you definitely know something and I will get that out of you later. Now I’ll call the security , just wait right there.”
Director went towards his landline. Just then Haruto shouted.
“You can’t go back to where KANNA IS!!”
He turned around immediately..
“How do you know about her?!!!”
“Not only her. I know about your father’s research and LMD as well..”
“I didn’t ask you that. I asked.. how do YOU know about kanna?”
“That’s because… I have repeated this world Many times already!!”
“Wha—”
“I have spoken to you and manager Ishiuchi. You guys have taught me a lot . I sneaked in and read your diary and that’s how I know her.”
“The diary?? No way..”
He went towards the locker..
He was surprised again..
“What did I say?”
“Huh?”
“you spoke to me in the last right? What did I say??”
“You asked me about time leaping. And told that the hospital has spent a lot of money on that. And that’s why you can’t spend anymore money to find the cure of LMD. And you kept on asking me about time leaping..”
“What else?!!!”
“umm uhh… ohh yea.. you told me that tomorrow is supposed to be a good day..”
“You.. really are leaping through time!?”
“Yes..”
“but how! The diary??.. ohh that’s right…. It’s ichiri! “
He paused.
“ No that doesn’t matter anymore” said the director. He continued.
“ Haruto, take me Back to time… please..”
“Like I said..”
“Ohh come on! You have something you want? You must have something..”
“Well.. curing LMD wi—”
“Alright!! I promise.. anything else??”
“Then a formal apology about organ harvesting and the illegal activities.”
“Alright I promise that too.. if you take me back in time.. and by the time you Graduate from your university. LMD’S cure would be available. How’s that?  That’s a lot I’m offering you..”
“Even if you say.. wait. Wasn’t kanna suffering from LMD too. Even if you return to the past what will you do about that? Can you cure kanna’s LMD?”
“You said you read the diary right?”
“Yes.”
“That diary was the idea of her.. although I wrote less.. and she would get angry.. but the last volume was different. She wrote it all by herself. And for her that was her precious moments. Why do you think she spent that time writing a dairy?”
“ because she wanted you to read it?”
“You are half right.. she wrote that to surprise me..she wanted to see me happy. And that’s the kind of person she was.. and when I read it. I was surprised.. and I wondered what she gave in the letter to my father.”
“Huh??”
“My father.. he threw it away without even giving it to me.. how do you think she felt when she was writing it and that too when she was about to die… so please take me back. I want to know want she wanted to say..all I want is to spend her last moment with he side.. I won’t do anything to mess up the past. I’ll do everything what you asked for. So please.. trust me..”
“Director.. I would like to do so.. but I can’t..”
“Why so? I mean I know I’m asking something big.. but .. please..”
“Director.. it’s not like I won’t.. I can’t do it. It’s impossible to get you back there.”
“Isnt that a lie to convince me? Tell me the truth.. you can do it can’t you?..”
He broke off.. he started crying.
“Please..”
Haruto was silent.. he then spoke .
“You know.. I stayed in this hospital.. up until 7 years ago. I received a heart transplant from girl called Aoi Aihana who had LMD. And that’s why I’m still alive..”
“Right! You are the kid from that accident.. yes .. that’s why your name sounded familiar..”
“yes. And we have similar incidents and I knew that you weren’t lying. And you didn’t..that’s why.. I won’t lie to you either.. I swear on kanna and aoi .. I’m telling the truth..”
“I see.. everything I did was for nothing. All these years.. it went waste… goddamn it!!! I guess anything doesn’t matter anymore..”
“Umm..”
“please.. leave me alone.”
“But..”
“what?.. ohh that’s right.. yes I will disclose everything and turn myself in.. and we will start the LMD research. Is that good ? Anything else you need huh?”
“No..”
“Right then, please ..leave me alone..”

*Flashback*

Ayato kikusui was in his room . His dad, the previous director came in..
“How long are you gonna stay with her thoughts?”
“ but you didn’t even let me meet her! “
“ You received her diary right?”
“It was the nurse who gave me that diary.. “
“I gave her the permission”
“I don’t need your permission for my things”
“ suit yourself anyways how’s  it going with Ichiri’s son?
“ He is a good friend of mine.  And the only friend in the academy I guess”
“Well I have known his father since a long time.  Anyways.. listen. I need to talk to you about an important thing and that’s the reason I called you here”
“What is it?”
“ It’s about LMD..”
His told him everything about the truth..
