Chapter 26: What I Wish For

Kanna laid there on her bed…
“I wish I could see him again…”
Someone walked in..
“Aya-“
“Hello , I’m your new nurse and I would be looking after you from today”
“ohh I thought you were..”
“??”
“I mean I wanted to see my friend.. “
“ohh.. what’s his name?”
“Ayato.. he has been shifted to new ward and all the nurses too.. they don’t let me visit there..”
“Ohh..it’s alright I’ll find a way..to let you meet him.. Ayato right?”
“Yes.. Ayato kikusui..”

The next day..
“Seems like he has been under strict care as his condition has worsened. He wouldn’t be out untill 6 months or so..”
“6 months!!.. but till then.. I’ll..”
“Hey hey..calm down.. don’t think about that.. we’ll figure out a way..”

Few days later..
“ it’s so quite here.. when was the last time we spoke.. hmm.. hehe.. it’s been months..”
The old building didn’t have many patients.. it was her and few other who stayed in that ward..
“there are so many things that I want to talk about! Yes.. I guess …I’ll write a letter…”
She thought for a while..
“What should I write..since it’s the last time.. I want to give him a surprise.. I’ll surprise him like never before!!! “
She somehow left out of her room and went to Ayato’s old room.

Few days later..
“Kanna.. the director is here to see you..”
“Hello sir, you are Ayato’s father right?”
“nice to meet you kanna, yes I’m his father.. you wanted to see me?”
“Yes.. um.. is .. Ayato ok?”
“he is not in his best shape.. but he’llbe fine.. “
“well then take care of him.. “
“yea even I don’t get to see him quite often…”
“Umm I have a favour…”
“yea what is it ?”
“When he gets alright... can you please give him this letter?”
“Yes.. I will..”
“Thank you so much”
“Is that all? “
“Yes..”
“I see.. anyways you should get some rest now..”
And the director left..
“Hehe.. I hope he likes it..”

*End of diary*

Haruto keeps the book on his desk..
“That’s the last entry.. I guess kanna must have passed away after that… and that’s why the director wants to go back in time..hmm I see why dr Ichiri wanted me to read this diary…
Yes.. I have decided!”

The next day..
30 March ,Tuesday

Haruto went straight to dr Ichiri’s cabin..
“I have decided.. I’ll do it one more time.. even if Kakeru and Honaka can’t ne saved.. I don’t want any other person to suffer from this..”

Haruto told about everything to dr Ichiri..
“ I see… so you read the diary..”
“Honestly ..I still don’t know ..but the girl in the diary stayed and waited for him till the very end..
And so..I thought Aoi.. might have felt the same way..”
“hmm..”
“I want to live in a way which would make Aoi feel proud..”
“good..”
“So dr Ichiri.. please… In order to convince the director.. please tell me everything..”
“I understand.. “
“Please doctor.. this might help.. anything will do..”
“Yep.. okay.. where should I start from..”
“What about the girl in diary? Kanna?”
“She passed away.. she had the same disease.. LMD.. and heart was given to kikusui..just like what happened to you and Aoi…”
“So he is researching time travel to save her?”
“Perhaps.. but originally that wasn’t the case..”
“??”
“When we first met.. when he was younger..he really was dedicated to find the cure of LMD..but a few years ago when I left the hospital.. he changed..”
“Why?”
“You read the last volume of the diary right?”
“That was hidden by his father.. and when he came to know about that..he probably knew about the time travel thing too.. so he wants to go back now..”
“But he can’t right ..cus he doesn’t know about that completely..”
“Yes.. it wasn’t me.. even our fathers were into this research.. his and mine..”
“Ohh.. so about the research i—”
“Haruto..I’m afraid I can’t tell you about the research..”
“But how am I supposed to convince him then?... Okay.. tell me this..you made me drink a medicine right.. for time leaping.. what was it?”
“Umm.. that was just a concentration of extracted juice from a certain flower.. it creates a nerve tract in your cerebral neocortex in your brain..and when the second dose is given..It helps you remind of the first dose and..I guess I can’t say much about this too..”
“ So can I get rid of that tract?”
“ yes .it is.. “
“And the flower is some carnation right?”
“yes .. Akitsu carnation.. the locals call them dianthuses.. and they bloom once in 7 years.. but there is a special batch.. which blooms once in 11 years..and those are the ones used for time leaping..”
“I see..how do you find the difference..”
“I can make them out by the smell “
“I see.. so.. why did you choose me as a test subject?”
“My only goal was to finish my father’s research and you happen to come by at the same time..”
“I see.. I might learn more after this time leap..”
“Hmm… about that Haruto..”
“yea?”
“Um.. there won’t be …
