I grew up when I never wanted to

Hailee took another makeup wipe as the makeup artist hurriedly put away her brushes.

"Hayun," she said looking at the older girl who had a rose tattoo on her shoulder. "How's your soulmate?"

Hayun, a random makeup artist who was pulled from SM, turned towards her in glee. She was about four years older than Hailee, but was as sweet as ever. A plus side she had studied in New York for a while and spoke fluent English.

"He's good," she said, "busy as ever with his job but he's still a softy."

Hailee loved listening to Hayun's stories of her soulmate, his clumsy mistakes or his roomates. Hayun had once worked under JYP at one time.

"What's his name again," Hailee asked as she tossed the makeup wipe in the trash can.

"Uhm... Tae... Jaeyong," she said snapping her fingers.

"Jaeyong," Hailee nodded as she looked at the older girl.

"Mhm," she said as if she was trying to convince herself as well.

"Sure...."

Hailee smiled as she stood.

"The photo shoot is over," she said as she made her way over to Hayun, "and I need to do some grocery shopping for me and Jaehyeon, do you just wanna join me and make it a girl's day?"

Hayun smiled before checking her phone.

"I have a photo shoot tomorrow with two Red Velvet members," she said, "so I think going out could relax me a bit."

Hailee nodded and changed back into her normal clothes.

She waited for Hayun to finish cleaning and put on her mask and hat.

It had been only two weeks and only one modeling shoot had been done, but her popularity was rising extremely quickly. She now had to go out in public with a mask and hat at all times to avoid swarms of people, and most times she had to be out for a very short time.

By the time they made it to the street, it was pretty late. She was able to take off her hat and hand it to Hayun who's hair was flying all over the place.

Then they both saw cameras flashing.

Thinking it was her, Hailee grabbed her hat off of Hayun's head and tugged it on.

But it wasn't her.

Looking across the street she saw two boys struggling, their hands in front of their faces as they looked at the ground getting swarmed by girls. One specifically looked stressed, his eye bags visible from across the street.

The scene tugged on Hailee's heart strings, her understanding of how difficult it was being in the spotlight making her do the most spontaneous thing she had done.

She ripped off her hat and mask and handed it to Hayun, the girl staring at the poor idols in horror.

"Hayun," she said, "put these on and take photos. With flash."

With that Hailee walked away, Hayun turning her phone's flash on and clicking away, flashes illuminating their side of the street.

The girls turned away from the boys to see what the flashing on the other side to see the young model moving past her friend with her head down.

"Is that Hailee Choi," a scream erupted as the rest of the girls turned to look.

And it was.

They rushed over, their cameras flashing at her face as she stopped and smiled, looking at the boys who were only staring at her.

"Hey," she said as she smiled towards the young girls swarming her.

"Oh my god do you live near by," one of them screamed, Hailee's smile peeling into one of fakeness.

"Not really," she said as the girls started asking questions, wanting signatures and selfies with her.

She didn't care.

She knew it was hard.

Hayun watched as NCT quickly nodded at Hailee and left, them rushing down the streets as they marked the model in their minds.

And by the end, the groceries were forgotten.
