Her lungs burnt with every breath she took but that didn't stop a persistent Haemi to race down the vast facility of Crowner Stable which was her third spot she had gone to in order to find her broken boyfriend. She remembered running through the crowded stadium where the steeplechase was with reporters and cameras shoved in her face for useless questions. The girl had to push her way through to get out and drove to the streets where the couple would hang out at, to River Stable and finally to Crowner Stable to no luck at all, the girl only found nothing.
The number of people she ignored and pushed away was countless. They eyed her worriedly maybe because the girl was crying and sweating a lot but she wouldn't slow down even when her fellow riders tried to talk to her.
But there's surely one person who can.
"Kim Haemi!"
Haemi's stopped her running and stood still at the demanding shout. Once she's stopped, Haemi realized how breathless she was when her pants kept getting worse and her heart thumped so fast that it hurts but she knew it's hurt because of something else as well.
A hand grabbed her shoulder and turned her around. Haemi lifted her tired gaze to met a pair of worried yet agitated gaze of her trainer. The girl knew very well how frustrated the trainer must've been after days of not updating her on the mission they're on, mostly because of their secret relationship but also the stress and trauma they've been through after seeing the dead horse.
Haemi closed her eyes as she panted, waiting for Ms May's words of lecture and maybe some ear pulling like the woman did to the toddler Haemi. Instead of an earful nag, the exhausted girl was pulled into a tight hug.
The trainer didn't mind the sweatiness of the girl at all as she pulled her even closer. Ms May smoothed Haemi's messy hair as she patted he head.
"Thank God you're safe, sweetie...."
Haemi's mouth gapped even wider and her panting slowed down after Ms May's whisper. This sudden change of demeanor was odd but homey and lovely. It took the girl out of reality for a second, a reality of Jimin's teary eyes, a reality of animal cruelty, the reality of losing her love.
Ms May pulled away with glistering eyes and soft sobs as she inspected Haemi's face for any injury. Though she could tell the trainer was talking worriedly and asking tons of questions, Haemi wasn't able to hear anything other than Jimin's harsh words when he shoved her away. Those words have been repeating since then and it pierced through her like broken glasses.
She finally snapped back to reality and grabbed Ms May with her burning eyes staring into the trainer's shocked orbs.
"Jimin....I need to find Jimin...."
Haemi hiccuped on her cries. Ms May's heart broke at the sight of the girl's messed up state. Though she was irritated by the news of Haemi and Jimin's secret relationship, the trainer couldn't help but pity the young couple for being put under such shameful spotlight. The news of them being bullied angered the trainer even more but to witness what it had done to Haemi, it only fueled her wrath.
"Haemi, go find Jimin. I'll deal with the rest"
Ms May hugged Haemi again before jogging away, leaving the girl alone. She didn't know where to go or where to continue her search after knowing that Jimin obviously wasn't in Crowner Stable.
Just then, a light bulb lit up. Haemi raced back to her car with her remaining strength and drove to a familiar residence, filled with cute and cozy Korean houses before pulling up in front of the house she's too familiar with.
Without even knocking, Haemi barged into the house but finding no one in the living room. She begun her search in the garden and the kitchen before climbing up to the second floor where she prayed she would find him at.
