Chapter 13

Chapter 13 -- First Night Together

Mahilig yatang maglaro ng Need for Speed at GTA si Sir Trein dahil ang bilis naming nakarating sa ospital dahil sa driving skills niya. One second, we were at the Starbucks' open parking area. The next second, we're in front of Makati Med already.

Ten minutes ago ay nag-message sa akin si Nana na nasa waiting area lang siya sa labas ng ICU. Mabilis naman naming napuntahan iyon ni Sir Trein dahil accommodating ang guard at ilang staff na napagtanungan namin.

Finally, I saw my best friend sitting at the seats provided outside and she looked devastated.

"Lianna!" I half-shouted her name. Syempre bawal mag-ingay dito sa ospital kaya pigil na pigil ang pagtawag ko sa kanya.

I carefully ran towards her. Tumayo siya at sinalubong ako ng mahigpit na yakap. She started crying again. "Oh God, Yuri, Papa is--Papa is.." hindi niya na natapos ang sinasabi niya dahil umiyak na lang siya.

I hushed her and ran my hand through her back. "Stay strong, okay? I'm here. I won't leave you. Trust your Dad. Magiging maayos din siya."

Bumitaw siya sa pagkakayakap namin tapos pinunsan ko ang mga luha sa pisngi niya. Tumango lang siya. "Thank you, Yuri. I don't know what to do if you're not here."

"Don't mention it, okay? We're best friends. Hindi kita pwedeng hayaan na lang ng basta."

That's for real. I mean, Nana's alone by herself because her Mom passed away since she was twelve years old and Mr. Yuchengco hasn't remarried since. Wala din siyang kapatid dahil busy ang parents niya noon sa pagtatrabaho at pagpapalawak ng kanilang family business. Yuchengco empire won't be as big as they are today without the blood and sweat of her parents.

Thus, this is the time of Nana's life that she wouldn't want to happen anytime sooner.

Inakay ko siya paupo at tumabi sa kanya. I almost totally forgot about Sir Trein nung tumayo siya sa tapat namin ni Nana. Bad me, I am super preoccupied!

Nagpalipat-lipat ang tingin ni Nana sa amin ni Sir Trein. If I'm not mistaken, ito yung unang beses na magkikita sa personal ang totoong Nana Yuchengco at ang dating potential fiancee candidate niya.

"Are you perhaps Trein Alexis Ryu?" Nana frankly asked him.

Tumango lang si Sir Trein. "Yes. We finally met, Miss Yuchengco. Sorry if we have to see each other in this state."

Umiling lang si Nana. "That's okay. Thank you for coming with Yuri." she sniffed after stopping herself from crying. "My bestfriend's cool, I know you'll like her."

"I already did, Nana."

Napalunok ako sa sagot ni Sir Trein. Kulang na lang ay higupin ako ng sahig sa kahihiyan. Oh-kay this is not the right place for this talk. Nana girl, ang awkward.

Hinarang ko ang katawan ko sa space sa pagitan ni Sir Trein at ni Nana. "Ehem! Just don't mind my higher boss, Nana. So ayun, anong nangyari kay Mr Yuchengco?"

Mabilis namang naka-move on sa sinabi ko si Nana and she started telling us the details of what happened. It was about the complications of her dad's cancer. I am sad seeing her like this bilang wala siyang ibang kapamilya na pwedeng dumamay sa kanya kundi ako lang.

After some minutes, kinausap na ng doktor si Nana tungkol sa condition ng Papa niya.

We're relieved upon knowing that Mr Yuchengco's away from danger now. As long as his body is responding to the medicines, that's enough for us.
