we find the defendant

You wake to your phone ringing. Your breath is coming out short burst, sweat is dripping down your face, and the images of your nightmare reply through your mind on an endless vivid loop.

You take your phone and answer it after seeing Bucky's name.

Bucky" doll are you ok?I'm sorry for waking you."

He also sounds out of breath and panicky.

You" it's ok, you actually interupted a nightmare, so thank you."

Bucky chuckles dryly.

Bucky" looks like both of us won't be getting much sleep tonight."

It's silent for a minute before you speak.

You" Bucky, I'm scared...."

Bucky" I know. Honestly I am to. But I won't let anything happen to you. Or Loki. It's gonna be ok."

You" do you know when the trial is starting..."

Bucky" it's scheduled for nine am. I suppose they are going to want to get it over and done with."

You nod even though he can't see you then look at the alarm clock by your bed.

4:16 am.

Bucky" could you stay on the phone with me?"

You" I was planning on it"

It's silent.

You" are you ok? Do you wanna talk about it?"

Bucky" I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours.."

You can hear the slight smirk in his voice and you smile.

Bucky and you talk on the phone for the next three hours. About random things, your nightmares,his nightmare, you tell him some memories of Peter and may, and he tells you some of his mom and what it was like in the 1940s.

Suddenly you hear knocking from his side of the phone.

Bucky" Someone is knocking on my door, I gotta go. I'll see you soon ok? I love you."

You" I love you to."

You hang up the phone then turn on the TV.

Half an hour later there's knocking on your door.

You shove your phone under your pillow then you get up and look out of the peep hole, and see Phill standing in the hallway.

You open the door.

Phill greets you with a small smile, then hands you your backpack and another styrofoam container.

Phill" morning. Here's some breakfast, and here's the rest of your stuff. Sorry we're just now getting it to you."

He hands you a familiar back pack. You take both with a smile.

You" thank you."

Phill" of course I'll be back in an hour to bring you to the car. Then it's just a short 5 minute ride to the main building."

You nod your head as your nerves flare up, and you start getting a headache.

Your body starts to feel heavy again due to the bracelets.

You" any idea how much longer I'll have to wear these things?"

Culson gives you a sad smile.

Phill" unfortunately I don't. But I'll try to find out for you."

You nod in gratitude.

He gives you another quick smile then walks away.

You step back into your room and place the bag on your desk.
