Maya walked out of the diner exhilarated that she saw Owen after six years of not. It felt great to see someone she knew a while back again. Knowing that Owen will be moving out to where she knows, at least she knows who's moving into those houses.

Unlocking the car, Maya opened the door letting the hot air out. Something cut her eye just as she is about to get in the driver's seat. Another red rose.

Picking it up she examined it carefully taking every aspect of it. Feeling the softness of the petals. She set it aside gently on the passenger seat and drove off into the sunset all the way home.

Music blasted in her car as she drove, singing along to every word. Hitting a red light, Maya glanced at the rose that's just chilling on the seat beside her. Accelerating when the light hit green. The whole ride home, all of her thoughts were on the rose and how someone knows.

Shivers raced through her spine as she thought of someone stalking her. Shaking her head at the thought as she drove into the driveway. It was late when she got home.

Maya turned on the lights into the dark home walking to the kitchen as she dropped off the bad on the counter and the rose in her room, once she made her way down there.

Stripping out of her work clothes, she turned on the hot, moist shower and stepped in, washing up. Letting the water drip down her body, washing her hair with shampoo and conditioner. Rinsing out her hair, Maya stepped out of the shower, put on a sweater and some shorts to sleep in.

Walking upstairs, she entered the kitchen taking out the leftover food and heating up in the microwave for a couple minutes. Once the microwave beeped, she took the hot plate into the living room and turned on the news which showed the family who died last night.

"The killers are back and returning to take their revenge. Lock your doors, windows, turn off your lights. Make sure your kids are safe. Don't trust anyone."

Finishing up her meal, she put the dishes in the dishwasher, turned off the TV and strolled to her room. Scrolling through Facebook to amuse herself until she fell into a deep sleep coma.

In the morning, Maya woke up with the sun crawling through the blinds. Luckily she didn't have any work today. Rolling around in bed, she finally gets up and get ready for the day. Heading upstairs lazily as sleep still dread over her, she turned on the news and once again, a new family has been killed.

"How the hell does the cops know so fast?" Maya wondered out loud. "Is someone hearing their grueling screams or somethin'?"

Not long after, her mother showed up in the living room. "The killings are getting out of hand again."

Maya jumped at the sound of her voice.

"Sorry darling."

"It's fine."

Maya forced herself back to the TV seeing the victims pop up. Her heart broke into millions of pieces when a child no older than seven. Maya adores children and can't wait to have some.

"I have to run some errands and meeting up with some friends today, so you'll be alone for today."

"Okay mom."

After a couple of hours, her mother left her alone in the quietness of the home. With the TV tuned in the background, Maya made herself coffee. Pouring the steamy hot beverage into a white mug, she walked back into the living room.

Her phone blowing up constantly on the kitchen counter behind her. Marching to the counter, Tamara's texting her with a missed call. Quickly reading over the texts, she called her friend back.

Tamara is a long friend that she had. Ever since they were five, they have been friends. Meeting each other in kindergarten when Maya had no one at lunch, Tamara sat with her and became friends. They have been there for each other through thick and thin. They had each others back no matter what happened to them. To this day, they are still friends.

"Hello Tamara."

"Morning. Want to meet up for lunch today? I know it's your day off and I'm dying to see you."

"Same. How long has it been since we've had girl time?"

"I don't know!"

"Yes I will go out with lunch. I'm all alone today since my fiance is out on a business trip and my mom is gone to do some errands and meet with friends."

"Aww so you're bored and lonely. Perfect, meet at Timmy's at twelve thirty. How does that sound?"

"Sounds good."

"Perfect see you then."

-

"I saw Owen yesterday at work with a friend."

"You did? How is he?"

"From what I got, he's good and he's moving out into the cul de sac outside of the city with a few others."

"Oh that's nice, getting away from the city. How's his sister?"

"I don't know, I haven't asked since I was working."

"Oh well I hope she's doing well."

"Hope so too."

Maya took a bite of her wrap and took a drink from her Ice cap. Tamara did the same with her food. They chatted for a couple hours catching up on their lives of what they've missed. It felt nice seeing her friend after a while.

When the time came, they left to head their separate ways. Pulling into her home, he killed the engine. Just as she was getting out, something crept between the bushes. Twirling around, nothing abnormal seems out of the ordinary. Walking inside her quiet empty home she dropped her purse on the nearest table.

Walking towards the couch, she turned on the TV to nothing. Turning off the TV, she went downstairs to grab a book from her shelf in her closet. Walking back upstairs, Maya headed towards the backdoor. The fresh air smacked her in the face as soon as she opened the door.

Taking a seat at one of the chairs. The trees from neighbors swayed in the wind as the leaves rustled on the branches. Maya enjoyed the outdoors and the beauty of nature. Especially going on walks at night to clear her mind and doesn't have to worry about pedestrians around. It's a good way to think about stuff and being alone. Listening to the nature in the background makes her feel alone.

Little did she know that she's being watched.
