Maya woke up the next morning really tired. After last night's events, it's been nagging her all night about searching up the incident. Latch said it could get her the information she needed. So that's what she'll do.
Maya took a ten minute shower letting it wash out all of the bad memories from last night. Letting the bad feeling drain from her body and mind. After getting out, she got dressed and ready for the day.
Jogging down the steps Maya entered the kitchen for breakfast. Grabbing two eggs, cheese, and cutting up half of a tomato to make an omelette. Putting on music in the background so it wouldn't be so quiet.
Once the omelette is done cooking, Maya grabbed a plate placing her breakfast. Taking it to the island Maya ran to the living room to grab her laptop for the research. Taking the first bite of the breakfast while typing in her password. Once logged in, Maya typed in the search bar, 'Car incident 2005.'
Many sites came up as Maya pressed the first on on the list, taking her to an article. She read through it carefully.
'A big log truck speeding on Highway 22 as logs started rolling off. A couple of logs fell onto a car killing a family of four died on the spot. A couple more logs blocked the highway and crashed into a couple other cars killing a few more people. Six people died while four people got severed injured.'
That paragraph jumped out at her. She scrolled down to the pictures and names. Maya scrolled through the names and none of them had the last name Campbell.
All morning she kept searching about the incident but nothing came up as her father was in the incident. The sites said mostly the same thing how it was tragic and people lost their lives from it, the same people died. No name said Campbell.
Either her mom had switched to her maiden name Campbell, or her father is alive and well and her mother lied to her all these years.
Shutting down her laptop, Maya put the dishes in the dishwasher to wash later. Thoughts swam in her mind of the possibilities of what could have happened to her father.
Is he really alive?
If so, where could he be?
Why did my mom lie to me?
Who's my father?
What's happened to him?
Is he one of the dead guys and my mom changed her married name to hyer maiden name?
A lot of questions flowed through her mind and she wanted answers. The doorbell rang as it echoed through the enormous home.
Running to get it Maya opened the door revealing Latch and Marley, our of their killer clothing.
"Hey . . . How did you get into the gate?"
"It was open," Latch replied.
"Okay."
"We came to tell you that your car is in the shop to get new tires," Marley replied.
"Oh, okay thanks."
"And that we'll pay for half of the tires."
"Oh you don't have to do that."
"It's fine. Look, I think someone out there is stalking you."
"I have that feeling as well. I didn't think of it at first . . . But it's getting serious."
"It is. Has he texted back since last night?" Marley asked.
"No."
"That's a good sign right, Mike?"
"I don't know Daniel. I think he's going to strike back again. It all depends on when, he'll strike again."
Maya let go of the doorknob and leaned against the door frame.
"I'm scared honestly. I don't know who's doing this or why?"
"We get you're scared. We will find him and make him down."
"Thanks Latch."
"Mike." He held out his hand. Maya shook it while giving both men a thankful look.
"Mike in day, Latch at night."
"Same with you?" Maya glanced in Marley's direction.
"Same with me. Daniel in day and Marley in night."
"It just hides our identities. I mean even in the day we call each other our nick names for fun 'cause we get used to it."
"I get that. Thanks for telling me and really don't have to pay for the tires. I can pay."
"It's fine we will pay half since you've could've been on your way when Nathan stopped you. So it's fine."
"Okay."
"We better get going but you know where to find us."
"Your the ones that lives in the cup de sac down the road right?"
Daniel modded.
"Okay. I guess I'll see you guys later than."
The boys waved while Maya waves back watching them leave to get into their vehicle outside the gate. Maya watched them drive away back to their little homes.
Maya closed and locked the door while going back into the kitchen. She blasted music as she sang along while doing the dishes that were on the sink from last a couple nights ago.
