She found herself drifting towards the origin of the sound and tiptoed to make sure the singer wouldn't stop due to her presence. As she slowly walked behind the trees, the swing was swaying back & forth steadily and the singer had their head tilted backward, their eyes closed as joy manifested itself on their face.

Another majestic high note resonated through the park and it gave her goosebumps.

Damn. He's good

She was at the back of the soloist, so she couldn't see his face. But she could tell that he was unmistakably younger than 20. She stepped forward just a bit further but

Crunch

She had stepped on a dried and crunchy leaf and it alarmed the boy, causing him to turn his head backward and that's when she saw him. She knew that she had met him before but couldn't exactly put her finger on it. The leaf had taken her by surprise, so he was just standing there, baffled and almost paralyzed. The boy stared at her with a puzzled look. She wouldn't move and stood there like a statue, hoping he hadn't seen her.

He waved at her with a very welcoming and friendly expression.

Oops. He saw me.

She shifted around on her heels, her arms still stuck in their previous position, and just when she was about to run away, the boy called out.

"Do I know you?"

If she hadn't felt the same thing, there's a 101% chance, she would've run away immediately but knowing that the boy had the same thought, she committed to staying.

"I think we do." She said as she shifted around and walked towards him, leaves crunched as she took the steps.

As soon as she walked out of the trees' shadow, he recognized her and so did she.

"Oh my, you're Choi Yeonjun." It was the transferred boy, Yeonjun. His blue hair should've been an instant giveaway but she was too immersed in his singing and taken aback by the leaf to be able to relate things like that.

"Who would've thought a BW student to be that good a singer ."

He forced his eyes so wide that they might've popped out.

"You h-heard me?" His tone made it seem as if he wanted to hide it.

"Is that a problem?" She raised her brow, walking towards the swings.

"Yeah, I mean, no." He followed her with his eyes as she sat down on the adjacent swing.

"If it is a problem, then I didn't hear anything." She held the chains of the swings before pushing herself forward with the force of her foot.

"It's just that I haven't sung in front of anyone before." He explained.

He never sang in front of other people? Why would someone hide such a grand talent? The singing competition instantly came to her mind. If he participated, not only would it complete their team but would also give him a chance to put his skill out there.

She stopped her swing and shifted her head towards him.

"Hey, how about you sing at the annual event?"

"Nah, no can do." He said as he stared at the ground.

"Why not?" She leaned a bit towards him as she sloped her head in inquiry.

"If you have stage fright, I can help you with that."

She would offer anything to get him to enter her team. With this boy's voice, they were bound to sweep everyone off their feet.

"I like to live in the shadows, you know."

She barely stifled a chuckle at that. I like to live in the shadows. It sounded like they were in a Batman movie. But as she imagined him wearing a batman costume and saying that, she lost control and laughed so hard that her eyes got watery. Yeonjun stared at her in disbelief. He had said that in all seriousness. But her wholesome laugh made him giggle a little too.

"Oh, But Batman, I think you need to put yourself out there." She said, holding her abdomen which was now hurting due to laughing that hard.

"And also, you look cute when you giggle. Do that often."

Smooth, girl.

Realllll Smooth.

"Are you...flirting with me?" He asked, caught off guard by her sudden compliment.

"I don't know, maybe." She shrugged, making a 'maybe' expression.

"But I need to go home now, bbye."

And she bolted out the park, not looking behind even once. While on the other hand, Yeonjun had been shocked by the school President's flirtiness. A flirty nerd? What an obnoxious combo.

"I'm home." She announced as she entered her house but her nana didn't come to greet her. That was odd. She would usually be standing by the door, waiting to greet her granddaughter and telling her how bored she had been the entire day.

She threw her bag on the kitchen counter and went around the house looking for her. When she entered the TV lounge, she heard someone snoring. It came from behind the couch. She scurried towards it and what she witnessed was a very uncommon spectacle. Her grandma was laying on the sofa, covered with popcorn and the TV remote rested on her chest as she snored like a child.

She poked her forefinger into her nana's arm which made her sit up with a jerk and the popcorn went flying down to the carpet along with the remote.

"W-where am I? What year is it?" Her grandma looked around trying to recognize her surroundings.

"Oh, I'm home. good." She heaved a sigh of relief, putting her palm on her chest.

"Take a chill pill, nana." Eun-Bi picked up the leftover popcorn from the couch, thrust it into her mouth as she plopped down beside her nana, and took the remote from the floor.

"Give it back!" Grandma snatched the remote from her.

"I was watching some really good stand-up of this handsome old man. He looked just like your grandpa."

"But-" She tried to argue but her grandma pushed her off.

"Go and get changed first."
