"Taking advantage of a handsome young man."
Eun-Bi tried to snatch her wrist from him, but his grip was too strong. Yeonjun gave a half-smile to the struggling girl, his cheek rising into a more fuller one as he smiled. He sat up as he let go of her wrist and shifted his body towards her.
"Thank you for bringing me here," He crossed his legs as he gave her a happy smile. Eun-bi felt tickly in her belly by his smile, her heart still healing from the wrist-holding.
"I'm sorry for lashing out on you like that."
"Oh, it's totally okay!" The words just came out of her mouth. Perhaps, she saw herself in him or her heart considered him a friend and it wanted to help.
"I'm happy to help."
They both nodded their heads and now,
Silence.
More awkward silence.
Eun-Bi was nervously fidgeting with her hands, while Yeonjun looked around the room. Both were trying to find something to talk about. Weather seemed too trivial to talk of and to ask Yeonjun the cause of his stress needed more courage than Eun-Bi could muster up. They weren't close enough to discuss their problems with each other but being an empath, every nerve in Eun-Bi's body wanted to ask him. At last, the empath within her won.
"If it's okay with you," Her voice resonated through the room as Yeonjun looked up into her eyes.
"You could rant it all out to me."
Yeonjun giggled and it caught her off-guard. She looked at him, all puzzled.
"What?" She asked, incredulous.
"It's just that, I never thought you'd use the word 'rant'." He tried to stop himself from giggling but he couldn't. He found her laid-back way of talking way too amusing.
He looks so adorable when he's happy.
Eun-Bi looked at the giggly mess so fondly. Every tooth radiated an ounce of felicity and fulfilment as Yeonjun rocked back and forth on the bed.
At the end, Yeonjun narrated the tale of his mother's death and told her about Dr. Harrison. Eun-Bi listened to every word without saying anything until he finished. He ended his story with a sigh and with a forced smile told her that it was over.
When he ended, Eun-Bi realized that she wasn't good with emotions, she felt bad for him, she really did but at the same time, she didn't know what to say. She couldn't find the felicitous words to comfort him and convey what she was feeling.
"Hey..." Yeonjun looked at her, worried.
What was she thinking?
Paranoia crept in his heart, scared what Eun-Bi was thinking about him. But before the fear could completely engulf him, Eun-Bi stood up and leaned over to wrap her arms around his neck, gently patting his back.
That could him off guard.
Her embrace was strangely warm and if Eun-Bi had held him just a tad bit strongly, Yeonjun would've melted.
"It must've been really hard, right?" She whispered in his ear as she patted his back.
For a moment there, Yeonjun felt something poke within him, right in his chest. Something overwhelming than anything he had ever experienced like the kind of feeling you get when you play a deep bass song on the speaker.
"You're not alone anymore. I'll be there for you as much as I can." Although this was usually what she said to almost everyone -as the student president-but this time, she meant it a bit more than usual.

The wind howled as the school day ended and students rushed home to save themselves from the impending cold. Up on the rooftop of the school stood two figures, staring down at everyone. Their hair swayed with the wind as it whooshed by the building.
"Is she gone?" Asked a feminine voice. coming from the chairs on the rooftop.
The other one-a boy-moved his head in disapproval. The girl walked up to him and put her hand on his shoulder.
"Don't you think you're going a bit harsh on her, Soobin?" She wanted him to reconsider his decision and she did succeed, for it made Soobin stop and ponder.
"Maybe it'll help her move on more easily."
But he ignored the thought altogether and stood by his decision.
"Staying away from him would be way better than that." He looked back down on the gate and exhaled.
"She can't even handle the future interaction on the annual event."
Irene nodded her head, agreeing to what he said. More students went out of the school, but there was no sign of Eun-Bi anywhere. Soobin was now thinking again, was what he doing the right thing? Or did he just wanted Eun-Bi to stay away from Dong-Wook? He looked inside his heart and somewhere deep within, he found a small grain of jealousy. Slowly growing.
"Why does she treat him like he's her ex?" Frustration hit the boy as the jealousy grew.
"What would've happened if they actually dated? Disasters, I tell you, disasters."
"No, Soobin. She still likes him." Irene was rendered speechless by Soobin's blindness. It was pretty obvious that Eun-Bi still had a thing for her ex-friend and Soobin knew that, his jealousy just chose to ignore it.
"I know she does." Irene assured him.
As Soobin reflected on Irene's words, Irene tapped the boy on his back when she saw Eun-Bi walk out of the school. They both went home after they saw Eun-Bi leaving.

Tired out and exhausted, Eun-Bi walked out of the school and into a café. A soft jazz and a warm atmosphere welcomed her in as she got a cold coffee and sat down at a table, scrolling through her phone. She bopped her head to the beat, sipping the coffee at intervals. The song slightly fainted and ended as another one began playing.
"Help me, it's like the walls are caving in."
Eun-Bi shifted her attention to the song. The moment somehow enhanced the effect the song had on her.
"Sometimes I feel like giving up, but I just can't"
It hit her right on the heart and she found herself drifting to the lyrics of the song. The walls were indeed caving in but she ignored it all. That's the only way she could keep up with her life. She felt her heart heavy and something took her breath away, it felt like a pitiless entity was toying with her feelings, deriving pleasure from her pain.
"It isn't in my blood."
She felt enchanted and in this vulnerable moment, someone tapped on her shoulder. She turned around to face a familiar person. Dong-Wook.
