The teacher rummaged through the boxes while the duo hid in a corner. Eun-Bi could feel Yeonjun's breath, they were that close. Cramped into such a small place irritated Eun-Bi, but the awkwardness she felt being almost 'under' Yeonjun overpowered the vexation.
Yeonjun had tried to change the inconvenient position but it meant toppling over and alerting the teacher, so there wasn't much he could do. After what seemed like an eternity, the teacher found whatever he was looking for, turned the lights off, and left the room.
Both of them sighed as he left and Eun-Bi, without wasting another nanosecond, kicked Yeonjun off of her. He groaned as he landed on his butt.
"What was that for?" He huffed as he rubbed his bottom.
"You idiot," She gave the most exasperated expression she could possibly make.
"There was no need to hide, the teacher wouldn't have questioned me nevertheless."
"Yeah, right, I forgot." He pointed at the badge on her chest.
"Yeah, right, I forgot." Eun-Bi mockingly copied him as she stood up, dusting off the dirt from her uniform.
Yeonjun snickered at her outburst as he stood up as well. Eun-Bi's phone ringed, telling her that class was starting in 5 minutes. She frantically jumped to the door and opened it, but halted in her steps, turned around and sauntered towards Yeonjun. He slightly raised his eyebrow as he saw her approaching him. Eun-Bi gave him an authoritative look as she stood before him.
What is she doing?
Eun-Bi put his hands on his jacket before she unbuttoned it.
Woah...
As much as he wanted to push her away, he couldn't. His body felt electrified, every hair on his body standing as straight as an arrow. Eun-Bi, however, put her hand in his inside coat pocket and took out the vape.
"We may be acquaintances," She looked at him, her face a few inches away from his'.
"But I'm the student president and your vape is confiscated."
She took the vape and left the room leaving Yeonjun all baffled and paralyzed. It took him a minute to come back to his senses and he breathed out, exasperated.
She...did that, huh?
Eun-Bi made it to her lecture on time since the teacher hadn't arrived yet. Panting, she sat down on an empty chair in the first row. As she looked to her side, she saw Soobin lost in thought, sitting five seats away from her. Her blood boiled as she glanced at him but the teacher had entered the class, so she had no choice but to wait until the lecture ended.
All she could do, and she did, was to pass him a note to meet her after school. The weather had gotten worse, black clouds rolled in and blocked any light coming from the sun. The lights in the corridors were lit and the atmosphere had taken a gloomy hue. All everybody wanted to do was to go home and drink cocoa but there were still 2-3 hours before the day was gonna end.
Eun-Bi got out of the classroom 10 minutes before it ended since she was a judge for the auditions being and had to go to the audition room before they started. She got into the room and the other two judges were already there, Lila and SooHyun.
"We weren't expecting you for another ten minutes," Lila turned around to face Eun-Bi.
Eun-Bi shrugged her shoulders in response making SooHyun chuckle.
"Well, since you're here," SooHyun said.
"We both were wondering..." SooHyun nudged Lila, telling her to continue.
Lila mouthed a 'yes' as she stood up and continued for SooHyun.
"What's happening between you and Soobin?"
A simple text blew up in the council like wildfire and everyone who previously shipped Eun-Bi and Soobin without any evidence finally had some proof. What do you expect from a high school, anyway? Students bored with assignments finally had something to gossip about after so long. Thankfully, it was just the council, not the entire school but it wasn't gonna take long before that happened. This made Eun-Bi more vexed at Soobin.
She heaved a sigh at the girls' question and held her head in pain.
"Don't say anything, please..." She said in a very faint and feeble tone.
"Oh, we're sorry...we didn't mean to-" SooHyun tried to calm her but got interrupted.
"No, no, i-it's not your fault. J-just don't say anything." Eun-Bi plumped down on the chair near her and told the girls to leave her alone. They did as they were told and didn't say another word until the auditions started.
Only two people out of thirty-five got selected that day.
Eun-Bi took her remaining lectures as usual. If she were an ordinary girl, she'd have bunked her lectures but studying was her only distraction at the moment.
The clock ticked to 2 pm and everyone rushed out of the buildings to their homes. The clouds rumbled as loud as ever and the winds only got stronger. Eun-Bi was waiting for Soobin behind the school building, her anger was sky-high having to encounter more people asking about her and Soobin.
She ticked her heel as she impatiently waited for him until he showed up from a corner, a solemn look on his face and his eyes as distant as ever.
"There you are, you blockhead!" She cried in anger.
Soobin gave a skeptical look as she approached her.
"Do you need anything, president?" He sarcastically replied.
"Choi Soobin, do you have any idea what you've done?" She glared at him, exasperated.
"What, president?"
"The entire school kept asking me about 'us'!" She swung her hands in the air, aggressive as a lion.
"What about us?" He folded his arms behind his back, acting as if he knew nothing.
"Quit this bullshit, I know you told the council not to accompany me to the Gala and that you wanted to 'ask me out'."
Soobin looked at her in disbelief. He mentally cursed at whoever had told her. Right then, the clouds rumbled as loud as metal banging on the floor from a high height and a bolt of lightning flashed through the sky, and rain showered on the Earth. As the drops plummeted to the ground, Eun-Bi, who hated the rain frenziedly turned around to run and take shelter but Soobin held her by her arm and stopped her.
"Wait, listen to me!" He said as he turned her around.
"Let me go! I don't wanna get wet!" She sounded like a dog whimpering, scared of water.
"Eun-Bi, that party will do you no good." The rain got heavier and heavier by each second.
"We both know why you wanna go and why you shouldn't."
They were both wet now. Water trickled down Soobin's face, his hair wet and it half covered his eyes. Oh, how dreamy he looked as the water ran over his dimple and his neck.
"Why? Why should I not go?" She stared him in the eyes, demanding an answer.
"Because..." He was surprised by her question and shocked that she wanted him to say it out loud. His grip on her arm loosened and she took advantage of that, snatching her arm back from him.
As Soobin searched for adequate answers to give, trying to mask his rivalry in the process, a council member rushed towards them both.
"I knew you both wouldn't have left the school." He said, panting for breath.
He further told them that the principal wanted them both in her office, having caught a possible culprit of the fire.
