I unlocked the door to my house and a sudden burst of hundreds of familiar aromas filled the air. I was also greeted by my moms... Who weren't supposed to be home yet. "Oh my god! Jennifer! Get in here now!!" My mom cried when she saw my face "Yeah what's u- Oh god... Oh my god!! Who did this to you?! What happened?! " My other mom cried "Nothing. I'm ok." I lied.
"Listen, I'm not here to play games. What happened?!" She demanded. "Nothing!! Just leave me alone!" I shouted. In that long moment of silence I regret yelling at them... for what? For caring? They were just trying to help. "Sorry, I just didn-" I began to say "Look, you don't have to tell us anything, but here's what you do need to do; March upstairs and clean yourself up, and do whatever else you need to do, then when you're ready, you come down and talk to us." My other mom chimed in. I decided to do what i was told, except i hid myself in my room instead.

The voices in my head were louder than ever before. 'You actually thought your secret was safe between you two' 'Get em guys!!!' 'when we're done with you, you're gonna wish you were gay' my thoughts were interrupted by a text. I pulled my phone out of my pocket, unlocked it, and opened the message.
'GROSS! HETEROO'
It says. It reminded me of the text that i got before, from an unknown number when i was going to meet Nash at the church. It stirred up anger inside me, but I ignored it and rested my phone on a nearby table. I resumed my thoughts for awhile, and was interrupted again by another text message.
'You know, we'd go perfect together; I'm a vacuum and you're a DIRTBAG' it read. That one was clever, in a bad way. I sat back down and decided to pick up a book to get my mind off of it. ' The Fault in our Stars by John Green' As soon as i finished page 2, I got yet another text. I braced myself for what I was to see on the screen. I unlocked the phone and saw that it was from Nash.
'Hey, look can we talk'
It read. I ignored him, but kept his contact up.
'please'
'Maddi, pls answer'
'Ok, I've texted you four times and you have never ignored me for this long.'
'Are you okay?!'
'somethings up pls maddi'
I shut off the device, but it turns back on and illuminates the nearby wall. I don't bother unlocking it; its from Nash again. 'Look, I love you, I don't...' The message is too long for the notification bubble, and I sure don't care to read what he has to say. Midway into page 3 I get Another text... I hesitate to grab my phone but a few seconds of curiosity and annoyance gets the better of me and I snatch it from the table.
'Hey I just wanted to let you know that the whole school hates you, including me'.
I feel my nostrils flare and a hot tear runs from my eye, down my cheek, and trails to my chin, dripping down onto the screen. I pick up TFIOS again and I cant even finish a full sentence before another text appears on my screen. They're coming like wildfire now.
'EW why is your contact still in my phone'
'I cant stand you'
'I HATE U SM'
'It would be MUCH better without you, just saying'
'This world doesn't need you, nobody needs you'
'oh aren't you DROP DEAD ugly'
'X_X <----'
'I've got a rope all set up when it you're ready.'
'Remember, cut vertically, not horizontally'
Yeah, these messages cracked me. Piece by piece. But this last message (the last one I could bare to read) broke me completely. Shattered me like glass
'KILL YOURSELF'
I dropped my phone and ignored the many more incoming messages rolling in non stop. "ring ring, ring ring," is all I could hear. I ran for the door and threw I open. I rushed to the bathroom and locked myself inside. I peered at my reflection in the mirror and stared in awe at the word written in sharpie on my forehead 'HETERO' it read.
I ran some hot water in the sink and sobbed over it. I scrubbed each letter off, one by one with a washcloth as best as I could.
I paced back and forth. Tears that could be mistaken for waterfalls ran down my face, and a string of snot lay over my shirt. Then I suddenly thought about what my mom told me before I went upstairs. 'And do whatever else you have to do...'. I knew exactly what I had to do.
I turned on the faucet and ran myself a warm bath. When the tub was filled, I opened the medicine cabinet. I found multiple pill bottles near the front and a mini razor blade in the back. I took a bottle of pills from the cabinet, and set it on the side of the tub along with the blade. I glanced at my reflection in the mirror one last time and let wet salty tears roll down over the sink again, this time, each one with a special meaning. I didn't bother taking my clothes off, so I sat down in the bathtub fully clothed and sobbed harder than I ever have before. "Hey Maddi! You okay? You've been up there for a while" said my mom. I ignored her comment. I popped the pill bottle open and glanced at the blade, still crying. "Maddi, when I call you, answer me!" Still no reply. I took the blade and dug it into my arm, ripping my skin apart, letting the blood sprout from the parted skin. I let out a loud scream and began to sob hysterically. My parents heard me, and they ran upstairs and tried to open the bathroom door. The locked bathroom door. They banged on it over and over. crying and screaming my name. Shouting for me to get out. I shoved the blade into my arm again. Watching blood drip into the crimson, blood dyed water. They tried to kick the door in now. But it didn't work. The noise dimmed for just a split second, and it sounded like they went into my room. They called someone and told them to come over as soon as possible; but I wasn't sure who.

Three minutes later someone else came. A guy. He used all his strength to try and kick in the sturdy door. I had no time. I had to make this quick. I scrambled to get the bottle of pills but they tipped over and scattered on the floor. I lapped up as many as I could. One pill. Two pills. Three. Four. Five. Six. I chugged a much faucet water as I could before my fingers went numb as I laid back, awaiting my last few moments. Finally, someone kicked the door in, but it was too late. Everything was getting hard to see and the last blurry thing I saw was Nash, hovered above me screaming my name. Yelling for me to hear him. Sobbing. Then everything faded to black.
Dead.
