My eyes fluttered multiple times before I finally awoke...
Awoke? I should be dead. Why am I not dead?
I took in my surroundings and soon came to the conclusion that I was in a hospital.
"A major vain in her wrist was very nearly severed. A half centimeter away from losing her life, and that's not including the overdose of pills she ingested. She managed to cut through lots of other veins though, which leaves her at about a 48% chance of survival. She hasn't woken up for so long, we might just run another procedure and see how things go." I heard a female nurse report. I close my eyes again until the doctor exits the room. When she leaves, I scan the room to find a brown haired, blue eyed boy sitting with his head held in his hands.
"Why am I here?" I manage to weakly mumble. His head shot up "Oh my god, this is a gift from Heaven." He yells, and the biggest smile known to man illuminated his face. 'Why am I still here? I should be dead.' I thought to myself. The boy hugged me tight and kissed my forehead. "I can tell you the whole story" He began,
"I went home after you got mad at me and walked off. I knew you needed help so I called your parents and told them to come home as soon as possible. When I hung up the phone, I cried on my way home. I cried until I reached my house, and then when I got there, I missed you more than anything. I couldn't handle you being mad at me, so I texted you. I texted you 6 times at first, but you didn't answer. So I started freaking out and I began texting you nonstop. I texted you around 44 times total and called you 12 times. I was worried about you. But then about 8 minutes later your moms called me from your phone and they were balling and screaming on the call for me to come over.
I ran, Maddi. I ran a mile in 7 minutes. I heard you screaming and crying when I busted through the door to your house and I ran to the room you were in. I kicked and pushed until the door fell over and your moms and I ran in. You were laying there on the floor and I yelled your name. I shook you, begging you to wake up. But you didn't. I was sobbing and crying so hysterically that I thought for sure I was going to pass out. I hugged you for the last time, or what I thought would be the last Time. Your moms called the police and they came and carried you into the ambulance. I climbed in and refused to leave your side for the whom time. At this point I didn't care who knew we were two non homos in love in this gay world; I couldn't lose you. I wouldn't be able to live with myself.
They brought you into the hospital and they told me to stay in the waiting room with your moms. But I couldn't do it. I snuck into your room and whispered all my favorite things about you into your ear hoping you'd wake up. But you didn't for three days. Your moms left yesterday, they couldn't take seeing you like this. Or, how you were a couple hours ago
They couldn't process the idea of losing you. It seemed so unreal to them. But I've been here with you for three days straight and I have not slept, or left your side. Hoping. Praying that a miracle would happen. It looks like my prayers have finally been fulfilled." The boy finishes. He wraps his arms around my waist and encloses me in a very tight embrace.
"Ouch.." I whine, the hug was a little too tight. "Oh! I'm so sorry, I forgot about the IV they hooked you up to. And all the bruises and scars and..." He stops, and looks up at the white ceiling, as if to keep himself from crying again. He sighs "Sorry." He apologizes. "No. If anything I'm sorry. I'm sorry for what I must've put you through these past couple of days." I say. A tear runs down my cheek, but I wipe it away quickly. "But... One last question,"
I request.
"Yes? Anything for you." He says.
"Um.. Well..." I pause. Debating whether or not this question would break him into small pieces or not. But in the end I decide to ask anyway.
"who are you?"
I ask blatantly, as if the question simply means nothing to me. "No..." The boy whispers and shakes his head "No! This can't happen! This cannot be happening again!" He says. And he falls to his knees.
