Miles' POV

After Channing, Serenity, and Amelia left, Archie came into Ashur and my room. I bit back a growl when Ashur whimpered.

"What do you need?" I asked pulling Ashur closer to my chest.

"Do you know what you are doing?" Archie asked. I stared at him waiting for him to finish. "When he gets out of his heat, he is going to hate you. We both know it's his wolf that accepts you and not him. So why are you risking his acceptation?"

"Because when this is over, I will have kept full control, like how I always do around Omegas. Maybe he will see that and maybe he won't. Either way I am caring for him now. And if he doesn't accept me, I got to be his Alpha for a little while," I explained.

"But it will hurt you," Archie said with a sigh.

"Anything for him," I said with a smile as Ashur tried to bury his face deeper into my chest. "When you find your mate, you'll feel it. You want to protect them, you want them to be happy, you want them to have whatever they desire, but if them not accepting you or not being with you makes them happy or protected, you will deal with it and give them just that."

"I just don't want to see you hurt," Archie whispered.

"I know, but this is my own doing," I said. And with that Archie left the room, closing the door behind him.

"Miles," Ashur whispered.

"Yes?" I asked looking down at him.

"Do you mean what you said?"

"Of course," I answered, kind of surprised. 'Most Omegas don't understand or think straight when they're in heat. I wonder how he understood me, maybe it's just his wolf.'

"It is me talking, not Cerberus," Ashur whispered pushing himself onto his elbows to look me in the eyes. "I am in full control."

"But you're still in heat," I said.

"My stupid friends didn't tell you that I have full control after a few hours when I get like this. I might still be in heat, but I can think straight," Ashur explained.

"I-," I started.

"No," Ashur said cutting me off. "I need to talk."

I nodded my understanding.

"I am the non-trusting Moon for a reason. I trust no one. I barely trust my family, Serenity, and Channing. I know I can trust them, but I can't. I haven't been able to trust anyone since I first saw the true side of James," Ashur started. "James joined Moon pack when I was 10, he would have been 12. His mother was an Omega in the pack, but his father was a rogue. Ever since he joined the pack, he wanted to be accepted in any way, shape, or form. So, he knew what he had to do when he first met me, befriend me, and then make me his mate. We became friends fast and we would hang out all the time. But as we started to get older, he started to become abusive. I was 13 and he was 15 when he first hit me. And it just got worse after that. I tell my family that I ran into my door or that I fell down the stairs. Serenity and Channing would be thinking the same thing if they didn't push and poke at the subject."

"You didn't have to tell me," I whispered.

"I know, but I need to tell you. Because I want to trust you. And I heard some of your thoughts. Will you really protect me?"

"Yes, I always will even if you don't accept me."

Ashur buried his face back into my chest and started crying. "Can you say it again?"

"I will always protect you even if you don't accept me."

"Not like that. Without the accept part."

"I will always protect you no matter what."

"Thank you," He whimpered.

"I will always protect you," I whispered as I pulled him closer to my chest.

"Mark me."
