Channing's POV
"Papa, Dad, there's something I need to tell you," I said closing their bedroom door.
"What is it?" Papa asked.
"I found me soulmate," I whispered looking away. "And he's a... well he's a rogue."
"We know," Dad said with a smile. I looked at him questionly. "Or at least we concluded that your soulmate would be a rogue."
"But how? That makes no sense," I said getting even more confused.
"There is one thing that is known about soulmates but is never talked about. You are drawn to your soulmate as soon as you meet them, even if you aren't 18 yet," Papa answered.
"You were never close to any Alpha, or even a Beta, in the packs. You only ever got close to Ashur and Serenity. Which meant you either didn't have a soulmate or your soulmate is a rogue," Dad explained further.
"So, we are drawn to our soulmates before we turn 18?" I asked.
"Only if you meet them," Dad answered.
"Then you must have been the blonde boy who I loved watching when I was younger," Ford said from the doorway. 'When the hell did, he get here? I didn't even hear the door open!'
"This must be your soulmate," Dad said. He offered his hand to Ford. "I'm Landon Reyes, Aqua pack Luna and Channing's dad."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Ford Hunter," Ford said with a smile as he shook Dad's hand.
"Oh, and this is Thomas, Channing's father," Dad added pointing to Papa. Ford shook Papa's hand, too.
"What do you mean by the blonde boy you loved to watch when you were younger?" I asked stepping in between Ford and my parents.
"Can we talk somewhere else?" Ford asked glancing at my parents.
I grabbed his arm and pulled him all the way to my room. "Tell," I said after closing the door.
"I was born into a make-shift rogue pack the moved around a lot. My older brothers, Tyler, and Mason were killed when I was nine. My mother ran with me a few days later and we ended up somewhere around here while we waited for my father to join us. I didn't know the Six packs were around here then, but it makes more sense for why my mother tried to keep me close. One day I escaped her watchful eye and went exploring, and I stumbled upon a clearing of sunflowers. It was beautiful, so beautiful I decided to lay down in the sunflowers and stared at the sky.
"I started to fall asleep when someone poked my cheek. I opened my eyes to find the blonde boy. Not knowing what to do, I ran. I ran all the way back to our make-shift camp. But I couldn't get him out of my head, so I went back every day to that clearing to watch him. He never failed to show up and watch the sky. That went on for a year, Riley was born during that year actually. The last day I ever saw him before my family had to leave, he was crying. It hurt me so bad to see him crying, but I knew I couldn't let him see me. So, I quietly walked up behind him, put my hoodie over his head and body, hugged him, and then ran as fast as I could back to the woods. Back to safety, I watched him slip his arms into the sleeves and he looked towards where I was with a shaky smile. I somehow heard him say thank you. And that was the last time I ever saw him because the next day my family moved," Ford told.
I stood there shocked before stuttering, "I-it was you?"
"I'm taking that as a yes to you being blonde boy."
"I-I still have the h-hoodie," I whispered.
"Really?" Ford said, surprised. "Can I see it?"
I quickly pulled it out from under my pillow. "Surprisingly, it still has it's scent, but it doesn't smell like you."
"It was Tyler's hoodie, so I didn't have it long before I gave it to you," Ford explained as he took the hoodie. He smelt the hoodie, and then smiled. "Yep that's Tyler's scent. It's been a long time since I've smelt his scent."
"Then why did you give it to me?"
"Because you needed it more than I did," Ford answered. "Does it still fit you?"
"Maybe..."
"Not surprised, it was huge on me back then, I bet it buried you."
"Haha yeah," I laughed.
Ford pulled me to him and hugged me. "I'm happy I found you. I love you."
"I love you, too, boy in the woods."
"What?" Ford asked looking at me.
"You were never good at hiding. I knew you were there."
