Chapter nineteen
Three weeks later.
"Derek please!" I pleaded laughing at his facial expression. We are on the way to my parents house for diner. Thankfully dad and I have finally started talking again. Things are still awkward between us though and I hope that goes away soon. It feels like forever since I have seen my room! Dallas's parents bedroom has now become mine till I wish to leave, Or until they come home in another month. Sarah has been there still everyday, she says that if she had it her way she would live with Dallas forever. I believe her! I smiled at that looking up at Derek.
He has become one of my favorite people! We have been getting closer to each other as the days have passed. If you ask me he is my boyfriend-ish and I like it this way. He still wants to be the full thing always letting me know how much he cares just by the sweet things he does for me. Derek makes my heart beat in a steady calm rhythm that makes me shake with glee. How have I been so lucky to have such a great guy? Aiden is calming down more and more making life seem that much easier. Could be because I actually see him willingly!
I text him every day all day to keep him off my back. Derek wishes I would not talk to him any more and finally move on. I keep explaining to him that it is not that simple. The more Aiden stops freaking out on me, the more he appeals to me, I have not slept with him since the night my parents walked in. I have no desire to have him in my life that way any longer. Derek on the other hand is seeming more and more appealing as are relationship progresses. He noticed me starring up at him and gave me a sweet smile. I still feel like I can see the sunshine when I look into his eyes.
He stopped the car in front of my house, getting out to open my door, I have not touched it since are first date. "Selenva are you sure your parents are ready to meet me?" He asked me helping me out of the car. I bit my bottom lip thinking back to when I asked dad to meet him. It seemed like the right thing to do after what happened with Aiden. Derek is nothing like him! He is normal! Aiden is everything but that! I took a deep breath , "Yes they are ready, I am sure of it. Derek are you okay?" He had seemed fine until now. His hands were shaking , he looked like he was about to start crying, which made my stomach well with concern.
"Yes I will be fine, thanks for asking. It is just I have never been good with parents. You know I never have really had any." Derek said cupping my cheek with his right hand. I could the clam to it he must really be nervous. He told me after I confronted him with what Aiden had told me about his parents. That night we stayed up talking about how much he was ashamed of them. That was why he didn't tell me the truth at the time. His parents used to beat him that is the only memories he had of them. "Derek my parents are good people, they are warm and welcoming. You will love them. I am a hundred percent sure that they will love you as well."I tried to sound as encouraging as possible.
The door came open and the smell of my mothers cooking met my nose. The smell made my stomach scream to be inside there stuffing my face. Derek smelled it too I could see his nostrils flaring and his lips perk up. I know he can do this! It is not every day I ask my parents if I can bring home a guy to meet them! I looked over hearing my mothers voice "Come on in! Come in we have been waiting for you two!"she yelled as her blonde hair swayed with her arms. She looked so peaceful standing there happy, it made me feel so welcomed.
"Come on Derek! You will do amazing just be yourself, you'll be fine!" I explained as I grabbed his hand from my face pulling him towards my mother. He came gracefully enough I could not notice he was still nervous. "Hello Mrs. Mathews, Mr. Mathews, I am Derek." He said smiling shaking their hands. If you ask me he isn't nervous at all! He is doing better than I thought he would be! Mom and I walked to the kitchen to plate the turkey and the stuffing. The table in the kitchen had only got there after I left. It suits this kitchen pretty well with the brown theme. I smiled glancing out towards the living room were dad and Derek were sitting. It sounded like they were talking about where Derek works.
