I Wish I Did Things Differently

    Something was wrong.

Something horrible had happened. And the worst part? His best friend knew what it was. It made him want to light something on fire, because it was just so frustrating. When he had snuck into her apartment to find her screaming and thrashing and crying all the while asleep; he almost had a heart attack. He had never seen Lucy in so much pain and he never wanted to see it again.

(Something told him that this wasn't going to be the last time, though. And that worried him, because he knew that it was true.)

He had called for her, but she couldn't hear him. Happy tried his best too, which wan't much considering he was a crying sobbing mess. Hell, he wanted to cry at what he was witnessing as well.

He kept on calling for her, and it worked. He felt a wave of relief that came over him, but it instantly came to a halt. Lucy had jolted into an upright position, and she looked like she had witnessed something that held lifetimes of pain and suffering. She was shaking and crying and her hair stuck up in ways that defied gravity. His best friend looked horrified and he was scared too, because he had never seen Lucy so terrified before; he didn't want to see it.

Her eyes were what had drawn the conclusion that something bad had happened. They just looked so dead. In a way that no one's eyes should ever look like. They held so much pain and agony that he had fought to keep his own tears at bay. When she had hugged Happy all he could do was watch as she continued to silently cry. She looked as if she were about to hug him when she quickly ran to the bathroom and threw up.

He had ran towards her and hugged her. She was sobbing and the tears were flowing down, down, down  and he wouldn't be able to stop them; no matter how much he had tried. He wanted to question her, ask her why. Why did she look so, so broken when only yesterday they were both laughing so hard that they started to cry?

He held back, knowing it won't do any good now. When Luce had calmed down she told him she was fine now. Everything was okay. Perfect even.

He knew it was far from perfect; yet he didn't do anything. If only he had.

Lucy was a horrible liar. At least she was twenty-four hours ago. If he hadn't witnessed the ordeal, he might've believed her. The smile she gave looked so real, but her eyes still had that haunted look. They were dull and they lacked their usual sparkle.

She told them that she has to get ready for the guild, that they can leave.

He didn't want to leave, so he stayed; getting consumed with questions and worries. He could tell Happy was the same because even he was quiet.

Jealousy had clouded his mind when she had asked to speak with Loke alone. They were having so much fun and he could tell Lucy was beginning to relax. He had waited for what seemed like forever until she finally walked outside. He noticed how her smile was strained and he wondered how long it would take until her could see a real smile again.

(Although it had only been a few hours since he had last seen it, he was already starting to miss the smile that made his day.)

Once they made it to the guild he realized that her hand was shaking. He gave her hand a squeeze and tried to ignore how his stomach fluttered from their hands being intertwined.

Natsu didn't understand why she was so anxious about entering the guild. He wanted to know so badly because he had a sneaking suspicion that this had to do with her nightmare. They had separated when Gray had challenged him to a fight and just like that, his worries had been pushed to the back of his mind.

When the party had started the only thing on his mind was Lucy. He wanted to find her but was dragged into challenges from members from other guilds. And, well, he wasn't one to deny a challenge.

Natsu had been walking to the bar when he had bumped into Lucy. She was beautiful. She always was. The dress wasn't something he was used to her wearing, but he really, really liked it. Everything about her screamed beauty and perfection.

"Jeez, Luce. You really have to watch where you're going." I had told her with a teasing tone. I didn't know that she would drag me onto the dance floor to dance. She knew I couldn't dance and yet I was happy that she wanted to dance with me.

We were close, but not close enough. I wasn't even thinking when I changed our position for dancing. She had her head on my shoulder and I had my hands wrapped around her waist. It just seemed so right and I wished that it would have never ended.

When Luce said she had to go home I had offered to accompany her. The walk to her home was a comfortable one. We didn't talk; the silence was enough for us.

"Thank you for dancing with me. I really liked it." Luce said as we made it to the front steps of her apartment. I was worried to leave her alone. Something told him he shouldn't.

"You're the one who dragged me in to it." He had teased which seemed to make her smile. "I'll see you tomorrow, then." This seemed to upset her, for what, he didn't know.

"Actually Natsu... I have things I have to do tomorrow. I don't think I can come to the guild tomorrow." I was disappointed that I wouldn't get to see her the next day. And I could see the dullness coming back into her eyes and I knew that couldn't be good.

"Hey, are you okay?" He could see the shock on her face which quickly disappeared with a smile. And again, it looked so real, but Natsu knew Lucy. He knew it was fake.

"What are you taking about? I'm fine. Just a little tired." I wanted to believe her, but he couldn't.

"If you say so. Goodnight, Luce." He would let it slide, but just for now. He's going to keep a closer eye on her now. And only until he gets the answers behind her eyes will he stop. Only until she's okay again.

He wished he told her that he knew that she wasn't okay that night.  He didn't know though. He didn't know that she would start pushing him away the more he pushed for answers.

He knew something was terribly wrong. He regrets not acting on it.

He wishes he did things differently.

Hello! I hope everyone is doing well! I'm sorry the chapter is shorter and kind of repeats a few things. I just really, really wanted to do something from Natsu's POV. I actually really like it! The next chapter will be out soon and it will be back to Lucy's POV.

I've been thinking of starting a My Hero Academia Fanfic. If I do, it won't be for awhile because I'd like to release more than one chapter. The plot will be similar to this one (That's all the information I'll be giving out), but a lot more complex. I'll have to think it over a lot, so it's going to be awhile. And if I do start it while this one is still being worked one, don't worry. I will finish this story and I won't delay the releases of chapters because of the MHA one.

Hope everyone has a good day! Byeee.
