In a city called Magnolia there's a wizard guild called Fairy Tail. They are known for many things; their parties are no exception.
The guild was blasting with music. To the point where you couldn't help but feel pity for the ones who lives in a one mile radius from the guild. Fairy Tail was jam-packed with people from different guilds; all were having the time of their lives. The defeat of Zeref and Acnologia was something to celebrate after all. Everyone was either dancing, eating, talking, or getting drunk. Different colored lights were flashing all along the guild as if they were dancing along with the people.
Even if I've already experienced the party, It feels like it never happened. I was wearing a red off the shoulder dress that hugged at my curves while flowing down and stopped right above the knee. My shoes were just plain black flats that were easy to move in and didn't cause any blisters. My hair was left down in loose curls. When I had seen all the dresses I had, I panicked. They were not my style anymore and I couldn't bring myself to put one on. In a rush, I went to a small dress store and grabbed the first one that caught my eye.
There were only two things I wanted to do before leaving. I wanted to wake up early to start my training and it was already eleven. If I remembered correctly the slow dance didn't start till eleven-thirty. That gives me a good twenty-five minutes to talk to her. All I need to do is find her.
Turns out she found me first.
"Hey Lucy! How are you doing?" I turn around and was faced with the one person I can't save. Yukino. I used that spell to save everyone who had died from the attack on Death Wish. If I severed with anyone's life who hadn't been affected from Death Wish then the consequences would be catastrophic. I try not think about what will happen, though. All I want to do is talk to my friend as much as I can. For the last time.
"Hey Yukino!" I say while giving her a hug which she immediately returns, "I'm doing great. What about you?"
Yukino's face lights up in excitement, "I'm doing great! You're birthday is in July, am I correct? I've already been searching for my gift for you!"
Upon hearing those words my mood turns more somber. I don't show it though, I'll maintain a strong facade (even if I'm dying on the inside), "Yes, it is! And you're already looking for a present? It's in like six months!"
"Oh, but I am! This gift is super hard to find, but I will get it! Trust me when I say this is going to be the best present you've ever received!" Her voice radiates excitement and pride for her present.
"Now I'm curious. And my birthday is so far away!" I whine to her while she just laughs.
We then hear the music change into something more suited for slow dancing. Mira's voice is heard and we all turn our heads too her. She begins to speak into the microphone when she has our attention, "Alright everybody! Now it's time for the couples to get on the floor and dance! Come on, don't be shy!". The first people on the floor are Gajeel and Levy (which surprises everyone but me), Bisca and Alzack, Elfman and Evergreen and many more couples (or soon to be). I give Yukino a quick heartfelt hug and say goodbye when she's dragged away by Sting to dance. I feel the tears start to form as it really, truly sinks in that I won't ever be able to talk to her again. Again, I brush away those thoughts and save them for when I'm alone.
I walk around the guild trying to find a certain someone. When I'm wondering around I smile when I see Juvia and Gray dancing together. They were both blushing, but still remained eye contact with each other. It was adorable. As I was watching the two and their blooming relationship, I knock into someone.
"Jeez, Luce. You really have to watch where you're going." Natsu said with a teasing tone clear in his voice. Natsu is wearing his usual one sleeved shirt and white pants. Not to say I'm surprised, though. Natsu hates dressing up and will only do it if he absolutely haves to.
"Natsu! You were just the person I was looking for." When I see the confusion on his face a smile and grab both of his hands, "let's dance!" I say while dragging him along with me. Last time, I was too scared to ask him and regretted it. This time I won't have anything to regret.
"W-wait! Luce, you know I can't dance!" I laugh and place one of his hands on my hip while I put one of my hands on his shoulder. I raise our other intertwined hands and we begin to dance.
"Sure you do! We've done it before, you can do it again." He puts on a pouty face but I can tell he's having just as much fun as I am. I just can't help but have a selfish part of me wish we were just a bit closer.
Seems like that wish came true.
Natsu moved closer to me while putting his other hand on my hip. Without even thinking, I wrap my other hand around his neck and put my head on his shoulder. I couldn't stop myself from breathing in his scent of campfire smoke and cinnamon; something that has always calmed me. I feel myself blush at how close we are. So close, that I feel his breath on my neck as we sway to the beat of the music.
"N-natsu," My voice is barely above a whisper but I know he can hear me, "What are you doing." I practically feel the smile that is no doubt on his face.
"What does it look like? I'm dancing with you." I let out a smile of my own and snuggle my head in the crook of his neck.
"Told you you could dance."
The dance ended way too soon for my liking, but it was probably for the best. It was getting late, and I couldn't afford to have too much fun. As I let go of Natsu we were both blushing but had smiles on our faces.
"You're beautiful." Natsu says but immediately flushes. He probably didn't mean to say it out loud. I feel my face heating up even more at the compliment.
Even so, I still look up into his eyes, "Thank you. I had and amazing time dancing with you." He smiles and I smile back at him. For a moment, we're just stuck staring at each other's eyes. I reluctantly snapped out of it first, "I better get going. It's getting late and I have lots to do tomorrow."
"Do you want me to walk you home?" For some reason the question surprised me but I quickly recover.
"That would be wonderful. Thanks."
The day was ending. Now, it's time to prepare.
No more free days. No more pushing thoughts away.
It's time to face things head on. And no matter how much it's hurts,
I'll do it alone.
