Vic landed the helicopter right next to the Fort Air Baxter softly, and the propeller gradually stopped spinning as Vic hopped out and saw Phil standing right there.
"Phil!" Vic called. "You told me to meet you over here. What's up?"
Vic," Phil started to say. "Sergeant Peppah has something to tell you."
As Phil guided Vic back inside the military base, Seargent Peppah was just standing right there. "Sergeant Peppah?" Vic asked. "What's going on?"
"You're back in, Vance," Sergeant Peppah replied.
"Back in?" Vic asked. "What you mean?"
"Phil told us the whole story," Sergeant Peppah replied, "and I just wanted to apologize for suspecting you. I should have known you wouldn't be involved in any of the crimes we erroneously discharged you for. Hell by the looks of your record, you don't even have any criminal records. So we just wanted to apologize for discharging you for nothing."
Vic felt his heartbeat skip. It was a rather delightful moment of his life, as if lightening struck. He kept his cool though and responded with genuine gratitude.
"Thanks so much for giving me a chance, Sergeant Peppah," Vic told the sergeant, shaking his hand. "I really appreciate this. I accept your apology, and I am ready to prove myself to you!"
"No problem, Vance," Sergeant Peppah replied. "It's the very least we could do for you."
"So does this means I'm back in the army?" Vic asked.
"Hold on there, Vance," Sergeant responded, holding his hands up front. "Considering we discharged you pretty early, we have to be sure that you really have the adept skills of a soldier."
"Come on, Sergeant," Vic told him. "I got experience with a weapon."
"We have to see for ourselves," Sergeant Peppah replied. "It's time to train. Follow me."
Vic followed Sergeant Peppah and the other soldiers to the military base, and Vic looked around to find multiple targets around the field.
"Now these here are targets that you'll have to shoot down in order to prove to us that you know how to use a weapon," Sergeant Peppah instructed. "You show me you got what it takes to blast every last stationary target with each weapon we supply you with, and we'll see how well you can push yourself."
So Vic was first given a Desert Eagle, where he was instructed to use it to shoot down every target in front of him. Vic used the weapon with no hesitation to shoot each and every target at a time with very little effort.
Next, he had to use a machine gun, in which Vic had to balance out the weapon to obtain is accuracy as he shot down every last target in front of him.
The final weapon to use - and his most favorite one of them all - was the assault rifle. Vic had been handling the weapon very well during his reluctant crime sprees. He followed the directions he had when he used the other weapons. It was a real breeze for Vic. His accuracy of the assault rifle was on point, and his aim had improved.
By the time he was done, Sergeant Peppah and the other soldiers congratulated Vic wish a round of applause. "Very good, Vance," Sergeant Peppah told him. "Now let's see how skilled you are in agility. A true soldier has a lot of stamina."
So Vic was asked to run around the track set up for him with obstacles around it. He ran through the track, avoiding every obstacle that tried to inhibit his prospects, climbed the wall using a hanging rope, swung through the monkey bars, and was even able to run through soft sand replete with explosives.
Vic did a good five laps around the track in just five minutes and fifty seconds. By the time he was finished, he stopped to catch his breath as he panted hard. It was a rather grueling task for him, but he was too much of a determined soldier to back out now, and he had finally got his career back as a soldier.
Sergeant Peppah walked up to Vic. "Congratulations, Vance!" the sergeant told him. "You've proven to all of us that you got what it takes to be in the military. You definitely learned a lot by the looks of it. I guess that also proves you wouldn't touch drugs in your life."
"Thanks, Sergeant!" Vic told him. "I did have ambitions of becoming a soldier in the military. So I followed my goal."
"Clearly, it shows," Sergeant Peppah replied. "I don't think you need to train any more. I've seen enough. Welcome back to the army, Vance."
Phil and the other soldiers also welcomed Vic back as well. Vic felt like smiling. He had finally gotten his career as a soldier back, and after he would end the war between the Vance Crime Family and the Mendez brothers, as well as Martinez himself, Vic would continue his career, and he could finally earn enough money to pay for Pete's medical bills.
"So you're free to hang out here anytime, soldier," Sergeant Peppah told Vic. "We all can rely on you."
"Thanks for the compliment, Sergeant," Vic replied.
"No problem," Sergeant Peppah told him.
Phil stepped up to Vic. "I knew you'd get your career back," he told Vic.
"Yep," Vic responded. "Things are starting to looking good from here."
"Almost," Phil told him. "I still want to get my hands on that asshole Martinez after what he did to my sister!"
"We'll catch Martinez someday, Phil," Vic told him. "Right now, we have to fight in a war. The Mendezes will be wiped out once and for all."
Soon, Vic was offered his uniform back, and he was even given a new barrack in the military base. He decided to head inside his barracks to think carefully about how he would finally hunt down Martinez. Vic wanted to make sure Martinez would somehow pay for everything he did to him so far. He was prepared for his vengeance.
