A new chapter

2020

Heiko packed his bags and looked around the empty room. He has spend a few weeks in here and he learned a lot of new things. he thought to himself: "Am I ready to go back into the real world?" He sat down on the bed and closed his eyes for a while. Took a deep breath and stood up. Time to go he said to himself. He grabbed his bags and walked out of the room, into a long hallway.

He looked around him. He saw a few nurses walking in and out of rooms, he saw some patients at the end of the hallway, they were probably on their way to the activity room. Heiko walked to the opposite side or the hallway. He pushed open a door and kept walking. Before he knew it he found himself at the entrance of the building.

He greeted the woman behind the reception desk. She gave him a friendly smile. Heiko pushed open the doors and took a step outside. He looked around him.

He could feel the heath of the spring sun and he could smell the mowed grass. He took a moment to appreciate all this beauty. It has officially became spring. He couldn't help but feel happy about this.

"Time for a fresh start.." he said in his mind. Then he heard a voice from behind him.
"Are you going to be standing there the whole time or can I get a hug?"
Heiko looked over and saw richi standing there. Heiko smiled at him. Richi smiled back and walked over to heiko with his arms opened. "WELCOME BACK!" He said with full enthusiasm. Heiko felt loved and couldn't help but smile..
"let's go home!" Said Richi while he took Heiko's bag and walked over to his car that was parked a few meters away. Heiko walked after him.

They had a long drive ahead of them. They drove over small roads trough a big forest. Heiko didn't remember driving here before. Maybe because he had so much on his mind when he went there the first time. He looked over at Richi who was clearly enjoying the nice forest view and the song currently playin on the radio.

It took a few minutes before Richi noticed Heiko looking at him. He smiled. "
What?!" He said with an annoyed tune in his voice.
Heiko laughed.
"Nothing.. I missed you.. Kind of."
Richi laughed. "Stop this. I don't like this sensitive and caring version of heiko."
They both smiled.

Heiko looked out the window and admired the beauty of the forest.
"Can we stop somewhere?" He asked.
"Why?! You already need to pee?"
Heiko laughed. "DEFINITELY!!" He said with a dramatic voice.
Richi pulled over at a nearby picknick spot.
"DONT TAKE TOO LONG" he yelled after Heiko when Heiko rushed off into the woods.

After a while Heiko came back from out the forest. Richi looked at him and then at his watch.
"This took you 10 minutes" what did you do?!"
Heiko laughed. "Come!"
Richi shook his head. "NEIN!" I don't need to see the place where you went to do your business"
Heiko walked back in the forest and yelled at richi: "come!"
Richi sighted and walked after him while yelling at Heiko: "why do I always listen to you?!"

After a few minutes of walking Heiko stopped. Richi walked over to Heiko and stood next to him.
"Look how pretty!" Heiko said.
Richi didn't want to agree with Heiko.
"You brought me ALL THE WAY here.. for a LAKE?!"
Heiko smiled. "You really have no taste in beauty".

Richi gave Heiko a push and walked back to the car. "COME!" We have a long drive to go he said while walking back.
Heiko grinned. "YES BOSS" he said while sprinting after Richi.

Heiko and Richi sat back in the car. Richi started the car and drove off. Meanwhile he started to tell Heiko about the things he has missed the past weeks. Heiko listened to Richi but soon lost his mind in the sounds of the car and the soft music coming from the radio. Heiko leaned his head against the car window and slowly dozed off.

When he woke up again, he saw the skyline of Berlin. He sat himself back up and felt that his neck was hurting. Richi laughed at him.
"Yes! That hurts" said richi.
Heiko pulled a silly face towards richi.
"Are you hungry?" He asked.
"Starving.." said Heiko.
"good.. Me too!" Said richi while he took the road exit.
"Mc Donalds or burger king?"
"What do you think?!" Said Heiko.
Richi laughed. He took the turn towards the Mc Donalds.

they ordered their food and sat in the car while eating it. Richi looked over at Heiko.
"You look like you haven't had good food in 300 years."
"You don't want to know! That cafeteria food was horrible" heiko said laughing.
"Not that this is quality food" said Richi.
"What do you mean?! Did you just insult the golden arches??"
Richi laughed. "FINE! Quality food.." when they finished their food, they drove further. They entered Berlin and the calmness had left. A lot of cars were driving, everywhere you look are people. Some walking their dogs, some doing sports, other people working. "Feels good to be in the land of the living doesn't it?"Asked Richi.
"Not sure" said Heiko who had already dozed off again.
"How are you able to sleep so much?" Asked richi.
Heiko ignored the question and laid back again.. "wake me when we are home".

Dear Diary..

We haven't spoken in a while.. or better written!
It is great to be back. I learned a lot of new things about myself and can't wait to see my friends again. Today richard picked me up and he has become himself again, since last time I saw him.

I am so happy we all feel so much better!
Let the great new year begin!
