Part 16

EXO sat up as a pale and tired looking Luhan walked into the court. He still managed to smile gently at EXO who smiled back at him. The boy looked so tiny in the prison orange overalls and Baekhyun cursed under his breadth as he saw luhan's rubbing his wrists absently where the handcuffs kept cuffing them.

They had no idea what else Candy and her dad had up their seeves. Chanyeol nudged him as Kim jun walked in holding a frail looking Candy. It was obvious to EXO that she was exaggerating it. In her simple blue dress and white cardigan with her hair pulled into a high ponytail, she screamed innocence and vulnerability. Even Baekhyun had to admit that he would have jumped to protect her if he did not know her true colours.

He scoffed when she coughed delicately into her handkerchief. Exo ignored her when she bowed to them. Kim jun realized with a frown that they chose to ignore him too. In all the years he had known them, these boys had showed him respect despite his obnoxious and contemptuous behavior towards them. He felt slightly displaced as he sat down next to his fiancé. He frowned deeper when Suho walked in with an unreadable expression and went to seat with Chen at the atrium.

"What the hell is he doing?" Kim jun muttered under his breadth.  "I thought he understood who the victim was here."
Candy glared at Suho with hatred before softening her gaze towards Kim jun. She lay a hand on his arm.

"its ok, dear. He'll see the truth soon."

The case began when the judge arrived and Kim jun's lawyer presented first. He painted a picture of a innocent Candy who only wanted a family and had found true love with Kim Jun.  Candy kept her wide eyed innocent image and quietly dapped her eyes when she caught the judge looking at her. It irritated Baekhyun to no ends. Chanyeol had to keep his arm around him to calm him down.
Suho's eyes were only on Luhan. Apart from looking up to smile at them once, the boy had kept his eyes to the floor. His shoulders were slumped as he heard how Kim Jun's lawyer painted out that he was a gold digger who latched on to Suho and how he had found Candy a threat. Hence he tried to finish her off. The only time Luhan reacted was when the lawyer suggested that Luhan may had something to do with the death of his adopted parents.

"No! St...stop saying that!"

Luhan's eyes were full of tears streaming down his face. His hands were clapped over his ears as he shook his head frantically.

"I loved mama and papa! I would never."

He choked.

"Please stop" he whisphered as he calmed down by himself, his hands falling to his lap. "Please."

His sobs echoed through the ourtroom. Suho took a deep breadth as he looked away, blinking back his tears. He heard Chen raising a strong objection to the lawyer's words but the damage had already been inflicted.  He would never forget the younger one's broken voice. He had lost everything, everyone who had been his world and now they were tainting his love and his loss.
Kim jun's lawyer sneered.
"We shall know your true colours soon enough. There will be more reason for you to cry soon enough."

EXO kept oddly calm as they glared at him. Just then court doors opened and the legal assistant hurried in with a file which he handed to the lawyer. The laywer smirked as he hed up the file with flourish.

" As you know the accused's belonging were searched and a vial of clear liquid was found. We had sent it for toxicoloy testing. The results shall speak for themselves, your honour. " He exclaimed as he handed the file without even looking at it as he was sure of the result.
Candy peeped from behind her hankerchief with a small smile. She leaned against Kim Jun for an extra dramatic effect. Candy frowned when she snaked a look at EXO who actually looked bored. She felt slight unease at their lack of stress. Her attention returned to the judge who flipped silently trough the file.
